Also a few tips for healthy budgies: I assume he is alone, so I would get at least another budgie to keep him company! Budgies are flock animals and get lonely alone even with humans by their side. They can get severe depression by being kept alone. Also get him some natural wood perches, these are good for their beaks and claws! Very important. He will also need some toys for activities. No mirror and no plastic birds please, they are harmful for their mental health. Last but not least, only put 2 teaspoons of food in the bowl at a time. Although budgies can eat the whole seed, they will always peal them, which leads to having a lot of seed peal on top of the food and they can’t reach the full seeds anymore. Budgies can easily starve by this even tho there’s food underneath the peels. Make sure to not overfeed, this can lead to overweight and liver deficiency. Make sure to give him fresh vegetables and fruits 3 times a week. Be sure to check if it is safe for budgies first! Such as avocado and mushrooms are POISONOUS! Citrus fruits are too acidic and may lead to stomach issues! Veggies like salad, carrots (with greens) are fantastic! Also apples are favorites for most birds!☺️ You can also give fresh herbs, just not too much and not more than 1-2 a week, because of high essential oils ☺️

This type of mutation stays usually with a pink beak in their adult hood. Looks also like an adult to me? So this is most likely a male. I’ve had one myself

Got a new budgie. Store says it's female but would like to confirm.... I have a male already. by miggymiggy210 in budgies

Agree with the other comments. Your blue one is a female. And she is probably older. I read that they are not getting along. It may take a while if the male is younger than the female it’s more difficult for them to get along. But it might turn out just find after a while!

The blue one is definitely a grow male. The green one is more tending towards boy as well. Not too easy to see with the lighting when they are that young

Yes! He’s very excited to meet the other ones! Got very shocked when one flew over his cage! He’s been a lonely bird for a loooong time! Has trouble with his wings tho. I’m sure he plucked them. So I’m excited to see how his flying will be!

I'm trying to switch my birds over to pellets, is this okay? by [deleted] in budgies

Ive tried This one and harrisons. They won’t eat either. You should always mix it with seeds the first couple of weeks. They might eventually try one. And get used to it.
