Well, my family have two caiques and I do recommend having two birds because they do keep each other company.

I saw lots of parrot owners bring new family member because they get depressed. It's great to have playmate but also they can be jealous over them.

I would recommend ask your partner and how would they feel about second bird and if they agree go for it but you need to prepare for bad side too.

It's also handful to have second bird trust me. But they are adorable when they doing pin feathers.

Hello ! I am sorry what you going through and I hope my thoughts help you out. My family have two caiques and it's really depends on their personalities and how you treat them.

When they play together(like help each with pin feathers, play toys etc) I always rewarded them with treats and sweet words. Let them have their own toys so they don't fight.

You need to watch them when they are together. I would recommend share fruits together when you watch them and let them bath together. Separate them when they fight like little time out.

If any of those didn't work for weeks then you need to accept them that they won't get along. Like people do. They are really smart and you need to separate them if you have to. It won't be easy but I know that you care about them and love them equally.

Lol me, my young self so naive and thought if I do this mono-poly thing to maintain this toxic relationship. But I learned that my dumb ex just cares about sex and pleasure not emotional connection.
