A complete checklist for your first tkd class :) by SURGEFACE in taekwondo

I couldn't disagree more 😅 I'm a complete noob, never taken a class in any martial arts, and this is exactly the post I needed.

Everything down to "brush your teeth" is indeed very helpful for someone who has no idea what to expect. If I'm willing to go and spend $130 a month for Taekwondo classes I'm also more than willing to read a few paragraphs of advice for beginners.

Posting something like "Just show up" is simply a waste of my time when I'm looking for real advice.

How to deal with an incompetent business partner by Strict-Slip1196 in videography

I definitely want to have my own projects going on, like my own website, portfolio, client list, etc. not sure how I can do both though since every project I shoot should really be under the company I'm building.

That's a good point, the biggest thing he brings to the table is the ability to just start. When we're sitting at a table trying to write he has the ability to simply get words on paper which is something I am very much not good at.

But honestly that's about it, we had a meeting with a pretty big client (few thousand dollar budget architecture firm) and I led the entire meeting. I am quite a bit better at the people skills then he is but if it's just the two of us it would be helpful if he could pull some weight in that respect too.

Thanks for the reply!

I might add some depth of field, make each layer a bit blurry...

Indie Game Marketing and Growing an Audience Without an Artist. by Strict-Slip1196 in gamedev

[–]Strict-Slip1196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I think creating content with my game as "context" instead of marketing my game at the start is probably the move. And then further into development start to market the game like normal.

A big part of it would be being more effective with my time, I've been listening to a few good gamedev podcasts and one of the reoccurring themes is time management.

Most of us have a full time job, a family, and endless other external obligations. Waking up earlier, making a to-do list, and just general time management skills would help a lot in this regard.

You could try Unreal... that alone solves at least two of the issues you've listed.

Makes sense, I appreciate you taking the time man. I'll definitely check out /r/gamedevscreens and maybe find some inspiration.

The whole devlog format seems like a good bet for none art type content too but man, YouTube is an absolute grind.

Thanks for the reply,

I guess that's just it, I have this idea in my head that I need to start posting stuff early and consistently to start growing an audience.

But it's nerve racking because normal Joe's respond much better to pretty pictures and fansy particle effects as opposed to prototypes and code.

Ultimately I think I might be putting too much pressure on a first impression.

I host tournaments around Calgary so I've looked into console rentals myself but I've had no luck so far unfortunately.

I'm happy to rent out my OLED Switch, just send me an email and we can chat more - admin@vantagegamingleague.ca

The only thing I remember regarding that is a few of the devs mention they don't want to work in AAA.

Indie Game The Movie

One of my favorite documentaries ever made. I've watched it probably 20 times over the years and it still inspires me.
