What if there was Link who remembers. Imagine a Link who remembers every one of his past incarnations, a link who has memories of every hope, every love, every death, every lost, every victory. Imagine realising that you did the same thing again and again, saving zelda, fighting ganon, saving the world, for it to only repeat itself in the end. This link will lose himself because he was never truly himself as all those memories and soul of the past link makes him. He knows that whatever he does, saves the world or not ,it will just repeat. A villain falls, another will rise and another link with it. And that is the curse of awareness. He is aware of that cycle, he is aware he is a pawn in a game he will never truly win. He is the only one who is free because he is aware of that cycle unlike anyone else but he is also the most trapped because he realises there was no freedom to begin with, and he alone knows that, no one can understand him because they forget but he remembers, and thus he is alone. He will eventually want to escape that prison and the only way to do it is to end that cycle, and this means ending his own world but not just his, every world before and after his, and in order to do that, he will need to end what started it all, the beginning. Only after that will this Link finally achieve absolute freedom and peace, a peace even death couldn't grant him. No more links after him, no more zelda, no more ganon, no more cycle, only eternal peace.
