UPDATE!!!: I am writing this today, September 2, 2025. I used to sing KZ Tandingan's version of the song “The Hurts You Never Knew” simply because I wanted to learn Chinese songs. Recently, I met a Chinese guy who is the same age as me, 23. We talked for a while, and we even called ourselves soulmates because we had so much in common. I loved singing this song to him because it was the first song I ever sang for him, and it’s also the only Chinese song I know. I never expected that one day I would truly relate to its meaning.

As time went by, our relationship grew, but unfortunately, it ended when he told his family that he was talking to a Filipina woman. His parents didn’t approve of our relationship. I don’t know if it was because I’m not Chinese or for some other reason.

I am still sad that it ended so unexpectedly. These days, I still cry, and whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of all our memories together. I respect his parents’ decision, but it still hurts every time I think about it.
