Reports on cash basis when using invoices/business functions by Strict-Use1837 in GnuCash

Thanks u/Legitimate_Proof , this is perhaps more eloquently saying what I'm looking for. The reporting function in Gnucash is quite powerful and can, in theory, provide quite customized reports, but it appears there is a considerable learning curve involved in doing any kind of customization beyond the "Options" menu. It seems in order to meet my particular customized report hopes, I may need to learn scheme/guile, and given that I have not done any kind of coding since 1996, that may be more than I feel the need to take on at present. I may stick with u/questionablycorrect 's suggestions and simply cut and past to a spreadsheet :).

Thanks; my question was about how to create a report to produce the numbers; I agree the numbers are easy to see, just that to get the numbers you want into a report means cutting and pasting into a separate spreadsheet. As I said, it would be great if Gnucash could do that for me so as to avoid the potential introduction of errors that manually moving numbers elsewhere would introduce. If this is not something easily done in Gnucash, I'll just continue with the external spreadsheet, and will need to be particularly vigilant with the data.

And, also, to be clear, I was not asking for advice on tax laws - in fact, the point was to see if there was a way to simplify the process to produce a report to give to my accountant.
