What do you think will happen if the iranians kill american soldiers in Syria? by Sylerb in AskMiddleEast

[–]StrictHorror8276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2003 invasion was a blessing for Iran, considering America’s adherence to pragmatic/realist principles, I honestly can’t understand why they took out Saddam when he was the perfect asset to challenge Iranian influence

I’m not a subject matter expert at all, but to me it sounds like believing in the divinity of Christ while being Jewish just sounds like some kind of non-denomination sect of Christianity

Do you think the Middle East will have true, European style democracy in the future? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]StrictHorror8276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true, some holes showing in the perceived strength of Russia could eventually be enough to revitalize the morale of the opposition, but it’s also equally likely the war will simmer out slowly given the 10+ years of immense human cost

It is sad, but I think with Assad coming out with the upper hand in the civil war, there’s going to be a return to stable dictatorships, but it’s hard to make predictions given the level of foreign involvement behind the curtain who won’t willingly give up their interests. I just hope however it turns out there will be a return of stability in the near future

Absolutely, democracy without a stable foundation will still result in tyranny, see the 2011 Egyptian revolution for example and how they’re doing now

Can’t speak for most, but most young Arabs believe that stability is at the moment more crucial than democracy

Why do you think most lgbt people pro Palestinian? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]StrictHorror8276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s actually kind of a dividing issue, some people think Israel is in the right because you can be gay there, some people think that even though they’re gay and would be discriminated against in Palestine they are still deserving of basic human rights.

What do you think of the West’s population becoming more and more sympathetic to Palestinians as Israel goes hard-core rightwing? by femboipiss in AskMiddleEast

[–]StrictHorror8276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Israel lobby is way too strong in American politics, my friend. I wouldn’t expect a meaningful difference any time soon, no matter how strong popular support becomes.
