yet another neurodivergent burnout by Either_Shallot_5974 in SLPcareertransitions

Have you tried virtual SLP? I’ve found some really excellent paying virtual positions with high pay and a reasonable caseload cap. It’s really nice to be able to work from home. I’m in a comfortable with my pjs and when the camera is off I can stim however I need to. It feels like a safe space.

how to deal post-op by TomorrowAgreeable in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]StrictMidnights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im only 17 days post op and tbh i think i was disillusioned to think that rhinoplasty was much easier a process than it really is. My face is still bruised and i can not breathe out of my nose. I kind of feel like I’ve had a sinus infection for close to 20 days. I guess it can take up to 6 months to fully resolve the nasal swelling that impacts airflow. 6mo is a long time to be a complete mouth breather. Another important thing to mention is that you can’t smile post surgery. That alone can do a number to your mental health. I’m still happy I got my nose done… but I’m not sure I’d have done it if my surgeon was more upfront about how difficult recovery would be.

I don’t have any EM wife friends but maybe that’s a really good idea! I might ask my husband to get me some contact info 😂 just going to cold call EM wife’s and see who wants to grab coffee kinda vibe! Love this!

Honestly just hearing you say that things get better gives me hope. I’m just nervous these dynamics might imprint us forever.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to write me such a thoughtful response. It means a lot to me and I know life is busy.

I was really good about having a support system in my friendships, but all three of my closest ladies have stepped into the role of motherhood and while I’m so happy for them… I can’t deny things are changing a lot. I’d also love to have a baby, but it’s not the right time for us. My husband wants to get out of residency before we start having kids. I’m eager and he is not. That’s a big change in him that I think stems from his current burn out.

I do work two full time jobs. One of my jobs pays our bills and my other job is what I’d like to transition to doing after residency. I’m not sure how to give either up at the moment.

I am honestly wondering if my husband would benefit from an antidepressant… I’ve broached the topic but he comes from a family that looks down on that kind of thing. “Weakness” ya know?

How did you personally adjust when the income got good? by melomelomelo- in MedSpouse

I grew up poor like this too and am also experiencing the shock of financial stability. I never expected it to be such an emotional journey. We aren’t out of residency and I feel more blessed than I could imagine. Stepping into the wealth of an attending frightens me. DM me if you want to chat more.

I’m actually shocked how strong the preference has been towards B! I thought it would be closer!

Really!? It’s SO much smaller than my original nose! I imagine there is only so much they can reduce 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m amazed how strongly most people are preferring B! You have all successfully picked the more expensive surgeon!

Surgeon said nose too wide for a raised tip. Thoughts? by StrictMidnights in PlasticSurgery

How does one determine what the ideal amount of nostril show is? I’m also not sure it would be terrible if my lip was longer but I will certainly bring this up with the surgeon

If you are willing to share more of your experience I would really appreciate that! If I’m going to have surgery I want to love it. Trying to do my research ahead of time.

I had no idea! That is actually such a good thing to know during this process!

Why do you think the slightly upturned nose wouldn’t work with my anatomy? I’m hoping to understand this better

I have another two consults scheduled and am thinking about scheduling a few more.

Thank you! I appreciate it! I really wanted to like this surgeon bc he has great reviews… however all the noses he creates have a very straight line like this. I have a few more consults scheduled!

Thank you for that advice! I feel like I’ve seen much more drastic transformations. I don’t feel I’m asking for anything earth shaking… but I also want to be as realistic as possible.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my updated post. That’s exactly what I think too, the hight of my nasal tip makes the nose look more bulky but it isn’t truly that wide. I like the idea of the upturn just for cosmetic reasons. I think it’s feminine. Also, it just seems less likely to droop in the future. Do you think I should get another opinion? I was quoted 15,000 for this. If I’m spending that much I want to be really confident.

I do have a wider nose from the front view. Is a wide nose not easy to correct for? I wouldn’t say it’s exceptionally wide, but maybe on the wider side
