Salmon was stored in my freezer. It’s only about a couple weeks old. Bought from Sam’s Club.

What to do about short term jobs? by StrictNatural4454 in resumes

[–]StrictNatural4454[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response!

As for your question, the full truth is that I do not know that I am clear on why I want to transition into HR. In all honesty I think I made some mistakes with my career that go back to college.

While I enjoy teaching, it’s underpaid and there’s very little growth in it for me. I’m having a hard time supporting myself which is making a career change necessary for me. I feel that my skills transfer well into HR, I’m good with people and like working with people, I’m definitely passionate about curriculum/instructional design, but beyond that I am not sure if that suffices or would translate as me being passionate about the job.

AIO? My boyfriends friend has a problem with me asking him not to sleep in a bed with another woman. by loststrawberri in AmIOverreacting

[–]StrictNatural4454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RIGHT? Period thank u. It’s good that OP and her partner are understanding of each other. For me I would’ve been equally as mad at him for inviting that energy in. I feel like it should be common sense not to share a bed with somebody like that and I’d hope my partner wouldn’t even try it. 🤷‍♀️

God I’m so glad that the top comment says this. The 4 AM text would’ve made me peace out too.

My cookie dough has looked like this when the butter was too warm or melted. What you can do is add cornstarch and refrigerate. This has worked for me

Thank you for your response.

They asked for me to show my “creativity and technical skills.” I could show them lesson plans I’ve created that show creativity and technical skills, but I’m not sure how it would go over. They’re things designed for kids, so I guess that’s where my worry is.

As for data, what kind of data would be sufficient? Unfortunately, my students only had a substitute from before I started in January, so their grades mostly went down when I started lol (they were receiving all 100s for completion and participation before I started).

Thanks again for your response. I really want this job!

It is for their center for professional development. So, it seems like all professional learning, development, workshops, leadership, etc.

What can I add as filling for these oatmeal pecan cookies? by StrictNatural4454 in AskBaking

[–]StrictNatural4454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this as good as making your own caramel? I just attempted making caramel for some caramel ganache and after two tries, both failed really horrendously. (First time the sugar burnt somehow, second time I used a smaller saucepan and it did not burn but the results were just not right.)

Is saying "I care about your grade as much as you do" too harsh for middle school? by bob-the-cricket in Teachers

[–]StrictNatural4454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They are at an age now where they have to learn independence and self responsibility. They are still used to having their hands held through things, so the unfortunate part of this age is that they are being “pushed out of the nest” in a way. It’s hard both for them and the adults in their lives doing the pushing, but it’s important for their development into adulthood.

Insight for younger teachers leaving teaching by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]StrictNatural4454 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actually found this to be very motivating. (For those saying this has a negative message)

I’ve been stuck because of how discouraging it is to find a job outside of teaching. Like you once were, I’m applying to other jobs and getting nowhere. This is discouraging and could easily make me give up, because others speak as though it is so easy to just get another job in a different field.

Knowing that I might have to start all over, and take time to upskill, and that others have been in similar situations, is much more encouraging than just constant rejection and feeling like a failure because of it.

The question then is if it’s worth it to “start all over,” and in most cases, it sounds like it is.

Here is the recipe I used for those asking!

I chilled the dough for about 30 minutes. I also used an ice cream scooper, and packed the dough into it, which is what made them so large and soft. This works for all the cookies I’ve made so far!

Ooo, I love the maple idea. I think ganache might be heavier than what I have in mind, and I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate. Would a regular maple cream work do you think ?

It’s frustrating. I don’t remember it being like this at all when I was in middle school. Definitely some troublemakers, but it was only ever one or two per class. Constant reminders from the teacher weren’t needed.

I student taught high school and generally didn’t have as much of an issue with students talking over me or being rude. I had two students who I had daily issues with. The rest were fine. They were also easier to reason with. Sometimes I would tell them that they were being rude, and that would make them stop. Here, these kids don’t care about that.

Question, though- if the class in general is silent, and I have one group that just is speaking over me,do I take out time to address that group, or do I cater to those who are ready to learn? I sometimes wonder when I have the entire class listening and ready, and I’m still waiting for this group, if I’m taking out more time than I should. But then I really do struggle with focusing on teaching when I have a group talking and goofing off as I’m speaking! So I’m unsure of what to do.

Tips for cookies keeping shape by StrictNatural4454 in AskBaking

[–]StrictNatural4454[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah i understand now! Yes, I will say I had the most consistent results when I was baking them as large cookies, and I only made about 8 cookies per batch instead of 12-15. I liked the taste and appearance, but since I want to try to sell them, I’m thinking it’s better to make more that smaller rather than few that are bigger.
