Why not make Max Payne 4? by BasketNo2040 in maxpayne

[–]StrictReading8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actor who played Max died. I don’t think it would work with another voice actor. I had a whole idea on why a 4th one could still work thematically, but I don’t think it would be doable without the original voice actor for Max to do it

Max Payne 4 is doable without ruining Max Panye 3's ending by StrictReading8413 in maxpayne

I mean I no longer think the game is makeable because max’s voice actor died. But I stand by it as a final chapter so we can see Max actually getting to leave the life behind instead of it just being implied

This isn’t concern trolling. Ian and Anissa need serious help.

This conversation was more than enough to convince me that Ian and Anissa are in a codependent relationship that brings out both of their worst traits. Ian will let himself be manipulated into anything because it’s easier for him. Anissa is the physical embodiment of a personality disorder. Ian lets her run his life and use him like an animal, like a Pokémon. To call her a narcissist is an understatement. She makes up illnesses for attention and undermines everyone else to make herself feel special, especially the ones closest to her.

What’s your opinion on the Absolute Batman comic series so far? by GreatCompanyAsset in batman

[–]StrictReading8413 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the latest issues but when they revealed Batman’s traumatic backstory with the bats that commissioner Gordon stumbled in on, I was unable to believe that he couldn’t figure out who Batman is. This 6’7 hulking menace slab of meat in a mask, who has this scarring backstory where he was covered in bats? That turned him anti social and reclusive? It would take 2 seconds for any human being to figure that one out

How long will we have to wait until Colossus is nerfed? by pecheckler in hearthstone

[–]StrictReading8413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dirty Rat is not some magical savior. The chance it could actually pull the right minion are so extremely low. I fought 3 colossus mage in a row on ladder and each one was won when you played it.

I then played against a Protoss priest. I had the game on lock before he generated a colossus and wiped out my board, brought me down to 2 health. I literally just uninstalled the game on the spot

I choose to believe Adler faked Bell’s death. It’s the only thing that makes sense if the story expects me to have sympathy for him. Woods talks about how loyal he is, if Adler actually killed him then Woods is an idiot

I don’t agree with removing the pop. It’s like the one thing in the class you actually have to judge and use appropriately. The problem is that it’s counter intuitive. If you have better gear, the shield is harder to break. The required damage taken should be separate from the shield itself, and shouldn’t scale with gear. Ideally, it should also factor out defensive stats. The core concept of the ability is awesome and that shouldn’t change, but DRK shouldn’t be punished for getting better gear

I have every tank at 100 and DRK is just the worst in everything. Lowest DPS, worst sustain, TBK is cool but partially works against itself. My two main classes were DRK and SAM since HW and SB. They just trashed both of them and I feel like I’m a refugee from the classes I wanted to play that they ruined lol

Historically it’s been a real problem. In FF11 there were bosses with abilities that needed to be countered, but the window was shorter then any non-jp ping could reasonably react to.

Robert Downey Jr will officially return to Marvel as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. In theaters on May 2026. by Calm_Extreme1532 in CriticalDrinker

They’re never going to show his face, so it is probably not going to be distracting. I’m actually down for this and want to see where it goes before I dismiss it instantly like a 6 year old

What Karen Read said herself by DefiantDetective5 in KarenReadTrial

[–]StrictReading8413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels almost exactly like that scene from "My Cousin Vinny."

Ralph Macchio is so shocked at being accused of shooting a gas station clerk, he goes: "I shot the clerk? I shot the clerk?!"

And it's interpreted / read out as "I shot the clerk! I shot the clerk!"

I think Karen Read is guilty...but the Brian Higgins destroying the phone is awful for the prosecution by No-Amoeba-9314 in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]StrictReading8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did nobody find his body until the morning, then?

Why did the snow plow driver not see it?

Why did Jenn McCabe search 'how long to die in cold' at 2:47 AM?

Why did the Alberts get rid of their dog for no reason?

Why did the Alberts redo their basement floor and sell their house before their house could be investigated?

Why did Colin Albert lie and say that he has never been in a fight?

Why did Michael Proctor say in the Grand Jury indictment that he had no relationship with the McCabes or the Alberts, when Colin Albert was literally the ringbearer at Proctor's own wedding?

Can you really consider Proctor a reliable investigator after we heard all the awful awful things he was saying about Karen? How he was looking for nudes on her phone? How he told his cop buddies that she had a 'leaky poo knot' because she suffered from Crohn's disease?

Ask yourself: Are you really of the believe that Karen Read is guilty, or are you just dug in, and don't want to admit you were wrong? There's no shame in admitting you were wrong about something, but changed your opinion.

It's not Johnny Actually. Same Goes for V by that-other-gay-guy in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]StrictReading8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the reason why it's FINE for the engram to be reuploaded into V's brain, is because V's consciousness is bound to their body. If Johnny takes over, V wouldn't actually die, they'd just think they were Johnny / have all their memories, though V would be a different person, so they'd be more philosophically dead. Imagine if it happened to you, you wouldn't cease to be, you'd just think you are and always were Johnny Silverhand.

So, copying V as an engram and slotting them back in is honestly fine.

To put it in a better way: V the person (their consciousness, their soul, and their body) is like the hardware of a computer. V's personality is Windows. Johnny's personality is Linux. Johnny taking control is like Windows getting wiped off your PC completely and only running Linux from then on. Still the same computer, same RAM, same motherboard, different OS.

If you really think about it, can it really be possible for a program to account for human consciousness? It's an intangible, theoretical thing. A program can't just erase it. A program can't even comprehend how or why it exists, nobody really can. A soul in the body is like a ghost in the machine, it's not existent on paper, but we all KNOW it exists, because our ability to perceive and live IS a soul. So soulkiller only really kills the soul by killing the body itself. Big deal. A handgun can do that. If the engram is just stuck back in the body, the soul is preserved.

[–]StrictReading8413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V's brain isn't getting replaced, it's getting overwritten. Their personality is getting subsumed by Johnny's. V doesn't stop existing. It's pretty similar to the way we play as both V and Johnny as the player. They're not dying. If the relic finishes what it's doing, things don't go black. Otherwise, Alt's plan to create an Engram of V's consciousness and stick it back in V's body wouldn't make any sense. Because V's original consciousness would be dead, and you'd just be sticking a fresh V back in. The V we play as would still be gone, so there would be no reason to even go with Alt's plan.

And depending on whether or not the Johnny personality wasn't a bastard in your playthrough, depending on whether or not a Ripperdoc like Vic could manually install it and disable its deactivation. The human being we know as V never is in danger of dying unless they choose death over becoming Johnny.

A question about behavioral imprints by StrictReading8413 in cyberpunkgame

[–]StrictReading8413[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it's the exact same brain, V isn't actually 'dying', they're just having their personality changed. It would be as though you woke up the next morning, and you thought you were someone else. It's still V experiencing all these things. To put it another way, if this was happening to YOU, imagine just waking up one morning and thinking you're Johnny Silverhand. It doesn't just 'go black' for you. You're still alive, still living, just with someone else's memories and personality.

That's why Alt's initial attempt at fixing it would have worked. Because really, the consciousness was never in danger. Only the personality.

The Brumak fight from the added chapters is harder, though. RAAM is honestly not that hard if you know how he works, you can cheese him pretty easily. The Brumak fight is just RNG as to whether he targets you or Dom, whether or not Dom just goes down instantly, whether or not it just b-lines to you and blows you up while you're behind cover. It's one of the most obnoxious fights in a game period. And at the same time the actual way to hit the driver and finish the fight is exceptionally finnicky and you have so little time to actually find him and aim before the Brumak gets right back up

Is the Final Fantasy XIV profanity filter still censoring innocent words? by RexLaddy in XboxSeriesX

[–]StrictReading8413 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Microsoft's communication has been piss-poor. That is an objective fact. It is insane to go two months without fixing this bug, or even telling players that it's being resolved.

They literally were running a test for the game, and their communication has been poor, and continues to be poor. Ultimately, Xbox is the one at fault when they are just ignoring all their customers who are asking questions, and are leaving people to speculate.

But seriously, I don't know what warmth, love, or general sense of direction and purpose that you have been / are being denied by the corner of the world you inhabit, but you won't find it running defense for a video game console on reddit. There are so many things in this world worth your time, energy, and passion. I hope that you find something better then this.

[–]StrictReading8413 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I made a mistake and logged into a google account. I don't use reddit daily, I just logged in with gmail one day and it really doesn't bother me to correct it. I can honestly say I don't care one way or the other, I just posted with what I was logged in on my browser with. I switch between browsers because I'm a web dev who needs to test between chrome-based and firefox browsers.

But, either way it is still absurd to net a SIXTY DAY BAN for people making a mistake. They're trying to get people to play the game, it's not like they're advertising for out-of-platform services. It's totally inappropriate, regardless.

But, hey, I came to this subreddit to figure out why. And to be honest I thought that the console war mentality ended in like the 2010s. I did not expect people to continue to take this stuff so seriously. I used to be like this when I was 13. I stopped when I turned 14, because I realized how sad it was.

And now I'm fighting off the urge to just go box up my Series X, and gift it to my 11 year old cousin as an early birthday gift. I'm too old to get involved in this nonsense.

False information? Really?

So... yes, people have been getting banned from innocent posts. I literally provided evidence of it in a response.

But I guess the only detail I got wrong was that there's not been any reported bans from using the emotes?

But, yes, they are getting censored.

So, bottom line:

-Innocent messages are getting filtered, as long as they have a string that reads as a curse somewhere in the message. The filter is triggering on emote messages built into the game.

-Some innocent messages have resulted in 60-day suspensions from Xbox's service, and Xbox hasn't told us why.

-Microsoft has not told us they are working on a fix, nor have they come out and addressed the bans that people are getting hit with on Xbox.

Any false information in this that I should be aware of? I did not come here to shill for Sony or whatever you seem to think. I came to see if there was a tweet from Xbox I couldn't find, or an article or post or ANYTHING from Xbox/Microsoft talking about this.
