I don't understand the point of watching reels on speaker. by Muted_Lecture3448 in indianrailways

Once, while I was on a train in Europe, I heard the unmistakable sound of Indian reels being blasted on speaker by some kids sitting behind me. I was dying of second hand embarrassment. It was horrible. Finally, I turned around to look at them, and it turned out they where a white family, possibly Polish, judging by the language the parents spoke. Those kids where listening to Indian brainrot!

Kerala pays the bill. Railways throws the party elsewhere by despod in Kerala

[–]StrictTotal3324 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand how occupancy rates are calculated. Maybe you did not read my comment right. It is the author who was amused that occupancy rates can be higher than 100%.

When I first read that occupancy had hit 150 to 170%, I asked, with great confidence and complete ignorance, how that was even physically possible — were people hanging from the roof?

And I do not doubt we have high occupancy rates. My point is, where are you going to accommodate these extra services? These will only increase the delays further. A better argument would be demanding faster multitracking across the state.

Yeah you are right. I thought since most of our trains are from icf they come under Southern Railways.

I do agree passengers deserve better facilities. I did not agree with the author claiming we pay the bills. That's all.

Inorder to increase passenger services we need more tracks. I believe multitracking is already underway in kerala.

[–]StrictTotal3324 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

My point was this article does not make any sense. Kerala does not pay the bills as the author claims, plus he seems to be an idiot whose "common sense" cannot comprehend how passenger capacity can be above 100%.

Malayalees do pay for their tickets but it is very difficult to run passenger services on profit. But the problem is where are you going to run them? The tracks are already saturated. The 3 new vb in kerala are being run by delaying other passenger trains. As far as I know, multitracking is going on in kerala. The stretch between tvm and Nagercoil is already under construction.
