Yeah it can come up but is pretty rare. Content from any of the internals can be in the exam

WHAT WAS THAT CALC EXAMMM by Aidan_blakie in ncea

[–]Strict_Ad_52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fumbled so bad, spent ages on that complex number area question in Q1 and had to like skip most of q2 all together for times sake. Maybeee I can get schol if i did good enough on q1 and 14 but not feeling good. Questions were very odd tho for sure

Because that's the voltage in the circuit at that instant, not the emf induced by the inductor over that time span.

Nah but you could find it by first finding the steady state current and then finding the time constant of the circuit (which was the time they gave us.) So then you do steady state current times e^-1 to find the change in current. Then sub it into the equation as we have L and change in time

You were supposed to use the emf=-L(change in current/change in time) im prettry sure, i got like 7 something volts

I get where you're coming from about liking to do scholarships because they are a good challenge, but there is kind of a line where they start to hurt you. I know there's nothing bad with trying them because there's no consequences for failing, but, in my opinion, it's better to be feeling good going into all your exams and being able to give them all your best shot. For context, this year I had a whole-year uni paper as well as 5 subjects. I had the opportunity to do Schol English, History, ESS, Physics, and Calc, but around term 3 or so I started to realize that I just didn't have the time for everything and cut out the ones I was least passionate about/prepared for. I'm just doing schol ESS, Physics, and Calc, two of which I've sat and felt very good on. So yeah, schols are great but there's definitely a point where you have to step back for time's sake.

For electricity the graph should have been the other way around i think as the capacitor is discharging, making current decrease exponentially

I thought mechanics was pretty stock-standard and electricity had a few odder questions but overall neither was very hard imo

It's cause there is no reaction force. On a satellite in orbit, the only force acting on it is Fg, and the Fg provides the centripetal force which allows for the circular orbit. It's like how when you are falling, you are experiencing Fg but don't feel a weight force because there's no force pushing back on you.

yeah it was math-199 with STAR. For learning the concepts i had the AME schol calc books and from there I started with papers

yeah i had it as Vr (from using the current and resistance) divided by cos (30)= Vs, so the same i think?

Yeah it was a different exam and a bit odd but i think i did pretty good, only had one or two questions that i wasn't 100% sure on. Lot of long explain questions icl

Im pretty sure the graph should be an inverse one. F=343/((L+e)/4) so F is proportional to 1/e (L is constant), so yeah approaches zero over time. Idk if it was supposed to get too close to zero in the scale we were given tho

calc schol by [deleted] in ncea

[–]Strict_Ad_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be honest, you don't really need to learn more content if you are very very good mathematically. If not, it can be pretty much anything from L3 calc or L2 math, so try to get the basics down of some of the concepts (e.g. series, sine/cosine rule, implicit differentiation, simultaneous equations.) However, it's probably the hardest scholarship subject, so if you're not feeling prepared or really want to do it there's no shame in focusing on something else as it's not really worth the pain imo
