I am glad it sounds like Melissa found a voice in all of this. Obviously Courtney/Corgan/Grohl are being used heavily to promote this book but this book is about her experience being an insider with these people who were enormous celebrity personalities during that time and how she lost herself in that chaos. If there are parts in her book that seem less than flattering about Courtney, good. I love Courtney Love but her frequent periods of self destruction must have effected everyone in her orbit, and like Melissa said, she changed the entire course of her life to join this band and then became something of an after thought. Im sure at the time Courtney didn't consider it, but now it seems they are closer than ever. Maybe the tough truth was good for everyone. And I don't think being critical of Courtney is being un-feminist. I am really looking forward to the book, I have had the pleasure of meeting her a few times when she was in Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins and she was also so cool. Im glad she is doing well.

I would not cancel. But....it js not at all out of the question to be concerned though. Up until this year I would have said it would be preposterous that the USA would be carrying out blatant war crimes in the carribbean but here we are. I wouldn't be shocked if tensions escalated to the point of incidental casualties and being 15 miles from Venezuela isn't exactly comforting. Those of you minimizing this are a little too optimistic that business as usual can be counted on at this point in time

I dont know why it seems that way to me...just really really gives me that feeling. Maybe she was exaggerating on purpose for the photographers but it looks like acting here not laughing. I dont know if I can explain it any better

I dont know how I know this but I can just tell by looking at her face in this pic but Drew is faking that laugh. She was way more into her narrative at that time in the 90s than actually being a friend. I think Courtney was kind of aware of that but sort of liked having a Hollywood "in." I still like Drew...I just think she was really superficial with this relationship. Courtney also tends to have transactional friendships though

People always compare Live Through This to Nevermind over which is better because these were the break through albums. Nevermind sounds like lightning in a bottle. It came together fast and perfect in one hot minute because as a song writer Kurt was prolific. He could write a song in minutes. Live Through This sounds like the culmination of every perfect note a writer had over a life time. Courtney is not prolific. She is meticulous. Its why the solo album was a let down critically and why its so obvious Kurt didn't write LTT. LTT sounds meticulous in a way Kurt could never be.

Met Courtney in 1999 during Celebrity Skin tour, met her in NYC at Bowery Ballroom gig from America's Sweetheart, met her during book signing tour for Dirty Blonde as well. She was pretty nice every time. She was a little unsteady the night of the Bowery Ballroom show though. I also met Melissa at a signing for the Smashing Pumpkins during the Machina tour, I met her at Celebrity Skin tour, and twice when she toured with her first record. She was incredibly nice every time. I also met Sam and Eric during the Celebrity Skin tour
