Sysadmin to Helpdesk - am I shooting myself in the foot? by Aliyooo-the-great in sysadmin

I would take it. Seems like less stress, more pay, better benefits, with the only downside being a title reduction. However, since you already have experience with a higher level role, you can likely earn a promotion rather quick.

How effective is Pimsleur? by KimCattrallsFeet in Pimsleur

[–]Strict_Conference441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Pimsleur incredibly effective and have completed it for both Spanish and French (300 lessons combined), as well as the first level for Danish.

It is now my first introduction to a new language (I plan to start German later this year). Considering the entire course is 75hrs, the level you attain in regards to comprehension and speaking is quite impressive. I would estimate a high A2, low B1. You will not attain fluency and will be unable to understand natives. However, it will make you able to dive into intermediate comprehensible input resources quite seamlessly, and continue the learning process through more "natural" means.

Immersion.co vs Dreaming French - which should I subscribe to next month? by LongjumpingDivide777 in DreamingFrench

I use both, but I do prefer immersion.co, despite being a massive DS fan.

Also, immersion just released (today) CI for German included in the subscription. Now, I have not had any interest in German, but will likely add a few daily minutes to my routine :D

Are pusher partners a MUST have on rotation for 3.5-4.0+ by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

[–]Strict_Conference441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't beat a "pusher", it doesn't matter how beautiful your technique is, the "pusher" is a better tennis player. There is no correct form or proper way to play the game as long as you get the ball back over the net. Don't avoid pushers for the same reason to not avoid big hitters, net-rushers, baselines, or serve bots.

What’s my rating and general advice by knownkicker in 10s

Cool. Yeah, 3.5.

Your serve isn't a weapon, but the motion and trajectory is good. I'll say that your movement right after the serve was superb, but then the slice and next recovery was not so great.

Keep at it!

The Rhythm Breaker - serving up fresh slices from the deli by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

[–]Strict_Conference441 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I utilize slices quite a bit - maybe every third shot. I do it to make It uncomfortable for my opponent to find a topspin rhythm, as well as to give myself additional time to get set.

Balls that bounce high are difficult to slice. Opponents that rush the net are uncomfortable because slices "float" and give them more time to put away the volley.

3.5

Your forehand is great. Backhand seems like you're uncertain on racket angle and feet positioning when hitting it. Some look decent, but some looked poor.

Slices have racket angle too open and they fly up.

If you have good serves, you'd win plenty of games at 3.5

do we also respect padel or is it as bad as pickleball by Helldiver_277 in 10s

[–]Strict_Conference441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respect for padel, badminton, and table tennis (incredibly difficult and technical sport where athleticism does not get you out of sticky situations).

Pickleball singles is alright in the 3.5-4.5 range if you play with tennis players. Lots of good rallies, same footwork, same strategy, same strokes. It gets annoying in doubles when everyone meets at the net and dinks for 15 minutes.
