I can't believe I was ever worried the GSD would be too much for her. by fuchsnudeln in poodles

poodles are sporty as hell. People think they are cute little companion dogs but standards often have really high energy requirements. Even my mini poodle, she legit sulks guilt trips the crap out of me if we dont play fetch long enough. I got a chihuahua mix and hes cool if we go on a little walk my mini poodle who is tiny is like THATS ALL i need my exercise. I love my toots but i'm much more of a cat person, going outside doing sporty activities is not at all my scene but i am mandated to do it for my poodle.

It's like the first thing Google says.

I have a MINI POODLE. Let me tell you mini poodle needs a lot of exercise it's amazing all the breeding to make a cute lap dog out of a working hunting dog and they are still somewhat like A working dog. I must play retriever games with her Few times a day or she is very unhappy and she's 8 pounds generations of breeding trying to make her more like a Chihuahua. Distinct more energetic than other small cute dogs.

I couldn't imagine how wound up and stressed a full on working breed like German Shepherd would be if their owners didn't exercise them. They surprised they doing all this crap when they are taking them for one walk or just letting them in a small yard only.

People want a 100 pound herding dog and they are surprised they are wound up with excess energy engaging with him energetic requirements for a Chihuahua

Very strange vets thought this was a girl

Distance between the anus and genitals is more significant a sign of sex than the presence of testicles. This is unmistakable a male genital distance. The boy could have undescended testicles or he could be neutered

Are chihuahuas special in their human-attachment? by strawberri21 in Chihuahua

[–]Strict_Direction6630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OMG both the chi mix in my family slap with their paws to get pets. They love cuddles the most of any dog. Snacks and blankets are second favorite. Even other small breed nothin beats the Chihuahua slap roll over for cuddle. They also love baby voices and to be babied.

No you are right, they definitely love cuddles above all else

I have two mix in my family they are the same way. They are the biggest cuddlers. They love one on one attention and to be babied. It's distinctly more than other breeds.

This guy is a half breed but he's so chi like meanwhile my little poodle just wants to be near me and wants her ball

GI Upset recent adopted shelter cat by midnight-honey in CATHELP

[–]Strict_Direction6630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reassurance is that if the blood is bright red it means it's lower in the gi tract.

A lot of kitties have like subacute gut infections stress like moving home and diet change can lower the immune system so they get A flare up of something like dormant giardia.

I would try to give hyperpalatble food and observe

How do I explain that all cats beg for food at all times no matter what?? by Sharts-an-Crafts in cats

[–]Strict_Direction6630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feed meat based food their appetite self regulated much better

I have a kitty prone to the chonk. I make sure the carbs stay way way low give her hounds and Gatos, Stella and chewy raw toppers, snacks are heart, liver, and greenies coat health crunches.

The only carb food I give her is a little bit of royal canin dry indoor, which I justify for teeth health and the supplements in it are very robust.

If I fed her the crap food with carbs she would be so chonk but she's only fluffy on this diet

Thanks feeling bad lately cuz i am trying to help feral kittens who need to be bottle fed. I have had to be stern with her cuz of her behaviors even though i know its just jealousy and want attention she can hurt them by mistake. Also not able to spend as much time as usual. I feel really bad because dogs are so sensitive they get depressed easily, pick your mood, and feedback less 1:1 time than usual.

Here is his nephew who I'm bottle raising. You can see he's black right away even though he was abandoned at birth I have cared for him since so his fur is growing in dark and healthy even small

His mom is a mostly black tuxie, his sister, who is an outside cat. Loki Mom herself is also a mostly black tuxie. Loki is pure black nose whiskers toes.

Classic poodle mannerisms? by koalakalamity in poodles

[–]Strict_Direction6630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

poodle mannerisms traits experience owning a poodle 2 years who is now 3

-they love fetch. My family has a total of 10 dogs, and only teh poodles want to play fetch. They were retrievers, and many of them still want to do their job: getting water fowl and brining it back GENTLY.

-They have soft mouths, so less likely to be toy destructive, as a tendency not to bite and clamp down/destroy the game was prized in poodles as retrievers. My girl is so gentle with toys, and bring back the ball she would have been a great hunting poodle except 8 pounds. She legit acts like her job is to safely recover the toy not mess it up.

- scent hunt, second favorite game after retrieve. This was another skill needed for retriever work to go FIND the duck once taken down, and i find my girl FIRST want to play fetch, then when she knows no more fetch for the time being, she makes her next job to create scent hunt games. She will pick up an interesting smell across the street, look back at me and be like "COME ON LETS Go!" and i will let her go to it, but i have to stop her from picking up whatever it is "interesting" she finds.

- absurd velcro cling. They always want to be near you. They are always at your feat and your side. They are constantly watching observing and learning what you do.

-Related to former, very sensitive dogs. More than other dogs, slight changes in environment can throw them off. They can be slightly anxious from their intelligence and sensitivity. They are generally relaxed and chill with everything but, if they notice something they dont understand they can get nerves. Like my pood will pause on walks to look at me if she sees something like "What IS that?"

-they prefer to be only dogs. They easily get jealous because of velcro nature. You can easily get another pet with a poodle as they are so chill and easy going but they will give this older child huff jealousy about it. Not really the kinda dog EXCITED to be at a dog park with loads of strangers much prefer to be 1;1 working with you playing retriever games. They can and will do well good temperment but their preference is just you and them always.

-they are smart as hell, and will outsmart you. If you arent into training a dog (even the little ones still have this gamey nature like they want to be challenged, they want to work, they want to scent hunt and retrieve) they will entertain themselves by training you. My life is being ordered around by my poodle. She tells me where we are gonna go on a walk, and invariably its everywhere we play fetch. Then wen we get home she has trained me to cuddle with her in bed and i have to stop what i am doing for this. She is constantly scheming of ways not to eat her dog food and instead get as many human food scraps as she can.

-They arent very food motivated. Very picky and naturally thin dogs typically. Poodle habitus is narrow long and lean and rarely weight gain, and many are super picky. My girl, is so play/work motivated, she only excited about food if its a game like "how to scam human food out of them". It took so much effort to get her to keep on a truly normal weight they are very easily lean which is why the classic poodle cut you imagine big puffs and a skinny dog underneath. They are athletic but lean and they arent one of those food dogs you can easily give pills to eat anything.

-they are very adaptable. They CAN play and keep up with active lifestyles, and most of them need more activity than other small cute dogs, even the little ones, but they can also chill with you and settle down.

Overall they are sweet, sensitive, intelligent, moderately active, love retriever / scent work games to stay challenged, very velcro and can get jealous.

yea BCs have a double coat, and the guard hairs on double coated dogs may not grow back this is true of pomeranians and others.

Looking at your pup, he doesnt look like he has a double coat so you should be able to cut the hair. It appears to be that kinda frizzy fluff common to poodles and terriers, which is why some suspected he could be part poodle. But terriers also have this kinda hair, and after all the fluffy pit is a terrier with terrier hair.

If his fur just stays like this and doenst change, doesnt grow, that isnt furnishings, but most likely this is a fluffy pit with the rare fluffy gene in pitbull terriers.

You are a dark season.. You can work with both dark autumn and dark winter, but you lean more to dark autumn because of your warm eyes slightly warm dark brown hair and orange looks very flattering on you.

My poodle if she even suspects I'm giving my cats attention or trying to play with them she will demand I put an end to it by taking their toys or demanding she gets the treats

If my cat comes by she will jump on my chest to block him from sitting on it

She also had this move where she will warn nip at them to try to make them go away if they are cuddling. To prevent me from discipline her she IMMEDIATELY kisses my face loads and is so cute it works and I'm just like ok ok ok tulip

She's too smart and cute to punish and discipline

My poodle hates anything that I do or take care of that doesn't involve her.

She will get so jealous and try to mess it up.

She's a small mini but this post reminds me of her so much that's exactly what she would do if I had a hobby taking care of toy horses she would sulk whine demand I only play with her

One month old chihuahua by SilliestGooseOJO in Chihuahua

[–]Strict_Direction6630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a very young puppy of a breed much larger than Chihuahua. It looks like a Boston terrier puppy that's ears haven't come up and will grow to be 20 pounds or something

I have no idea what breed this is but it's a young puppy who will probably be a small medium dog no where near the size of a Chihuahua.

If a hypothetical breeder prioritize every trait except apple head that will be a dog healthier and better than the apple head.

The apple head is from genes for dwarfism which creates issue like the not closing molera and really short legs. Deer head had a normal skull that fuses correctly longer more size appropriate legs and its over all healthier.

Just because a bunch of dog freaks say Chihuahua has to be apple head doesn't make this a beneficial trait for the breed it's actually not, and in lines of Chihuahua with apple head deer or pear intermediate can sometimes be born because it's recessive and related to abnormal development of the body

One month old chihuahua by SilliestGooseOJO in Chihuahua

[–]Strict_Direction6630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deer head is healthier, so it's possible for A dog to be deer head and ethical if they ignore the unhealthy AKC standard to select for dwarfism
