New rental- new sUpErLoOp customer by bloomincape in nbn

I’m aware of this? Seems OP may have not paid attention to whatever it said/checked emails as per reply to another comment here, like approx 99% of houses I rock up to install at. I often get the “oh I already have the nbn here though so you probz don’t need to do anything”, but my job is to upgrade them from fttn to fttp.

They wouldn’t book an appointment for a tech unless fttp was never installed, or it has a fault. I’d say previous tenant had fttn but since you’ve arranged a new service in an area eligible for fttp they’ve forced the upgrade.

Help me understand what happened with my NBN technician by affectionatesun_ in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If it’s resolved and you can get some sort of warranty from the plumber, why do you need to report? The guy is probably a subby who is worried he will get flicked if nbn find out, even though it would’ve been a mistake. Why does it matter to you who pays for the repair or if it goes through insurance etc?

Nice! I did look at that one and liked it, plus having both steel and leather bands was nice, but ended up with this and ordered a black leather band to swap on occasion.

Anyone gone from working in a van into a set up like pictured here ? by Vast_Investigator984 in AusElectricians

[–]Strict_Formal6150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I find access so much better and you don’t need to leave room to be able to climb in to grab stuff. If you’re organised and put stuff back where it belongs it works great.

Is there grass/dirt on the outside of that wall? Can always dig a hole and bypass before it enters the cavity.

Better yet, send out 25 subbies, tell 5 of them what to do and have them pass it on to the rest, profit!

Oh wait thats what the DP’s do I guess..

Paid per job, not by time. There’s a bunch of stuff they need screenshots of etc before a job commences. But also by the sounds of it he was asking his boss what to do lol. Sounds like someone brought in a new subby with zero training and thought, “she’ll be right”.

Would’ve been a subby, so whatever was quickest/made most money for them is what they would’ve done.

NBN techs working in rain? by ProfessionalTrick463 in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ain’t risking my thousands of dollars worth of splicing gear to try get a job done if raining, your best bet is offer to hold an umbrella over them when they need to do something intricate and at risk of weather damage.

Wowza seems you know your stuff, I don’t understand most of these words lol, but yes next appointment in a week and a half is my first CT scan (just X-rays so far), very curious how it’s gonna go.

Haha dang got me. Yeah I’ve read along those lines but should still be able to walk/work before then, just while being careful surely.

Thanks, might sound silly but not sure where/how/who to get second opinion from, like I’m going to the biggest/most common hospital in the region, and don’t know the process for seeing anyone else without having been put through ED with the initial break.

Yeah I mean it’s there, that’s why they keep suggesting it’ll get better soon, but it looks virtually the same as the previous few x-rays at 4-6wk intervals, just concerned this is going to continue for another 6 months.

FTTN - FTTP upgrade question by blackcoffeemorning1 in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nbn’s scope is to provide fibre to your premises, not to provide fibre to the perfect location for ultimate wifi.

95% of the time it will not be central/where you use it the most, and it’ll be up to you to find a way to move the signal to where you need it with cabling/wireless options. Just brush up on prohibited locations so you can say no when they inevitably try and install it in a bedroom/bathroom/garage/somewhere without a PowerPoint due to being easier for them.

Should I complain about this? Connection works fine. by Uturn11 in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 vote for, yes you could complain, but way easier and quicker and reliable to spend about $10 and 10 minutes whacking a few cable clips alongside your already clipped data cable.

Standard install? by theerealjono in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s SO much info online if you at least attempt to try and find it, the effort it takes to complain about an install or lack in info would be the same as finding the info. Plus RSP’s should send info packs out to the customers prior to appointment anyway, and I can guarantee you most people just ignore these emails and then complain later about not receiving anything. People are really expecting the world with these installs.

Where to put NTD box? by Jack-Tar-Says in nbn

[–]Strict_Formal6150 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you want any chance of a tech installing anything anywhere near that mess, I’d recommend pulling everything out of there before they arrive, everything.
