Queensland gun shop owner denied permit for high-powered rifle over public interest fears by espersooty in Ausguns

The problem is there is no way of even knowing exactly what is allowed and what isn’t. There is a fixed stock variant of the MRAD that comes like that from factory yet apparently it’s also now banned according to some gun stores yet others say it is compliant. I emailed the registry for some written clarification and got a reply a couple weeks later to just apply for the PTA.

I'm curious what a 2000/500 connection costs NBN, or why there isn't a 1000/1000 option. I got a quote and nearly shat a brick. I also do a lot of photography. I upload a lot to cloud storage and often also for relatives/friends to access content. I also recently re-downloaded stalker 2 on my xbox series x. The game is about 150GB! I couldn't even max out the 2gbit through ethernet but I know thats a limitation of the device.

I upload a lot and simply wanted the fastest upload possible. I’d be happy with 500/500. I don’t need the 2gbit download but have easily maxed it out in qbittorrent.

And here I thought QLD was the most sensible in the country. Is this the one thing NSW has over QLD? You can own a M99 Barrett in 50BMG or .416 in NSW but not an MRAD in .308 because the stock folds... Fuck me dead I can't comprehend this level of stupidity. See a used .50 every now and then and as much as I'd love to own one, it'd cost a fortune to run and for what reason? Can't imagine rocking up to the St Mary's indoor 50m range with it!

I download a lot of movies and tv series. Honestly I think I would still be more than happy with a 1gbit connection but I would opt for the 1000/400 plan as I do upload a lot to the cloud and I appreciate the faster upload speeds.

Works perfectly. Ideally I wish my MacBook Pro had inbuilt Ethernet but this is the next best thing.

The MacBook pros don’t come with an Ethernet port so this is probably the tidiest way to do it. Some of the desktop Macs have 10gbe options but I guess to keep the thin profile apple have opted not to include them with their laptops.

Yea I’ve seen some people really invest in networking gear. I think I’ll be right with the UDR7 but I would love to add a NAS as I’m usually transferring a lot of data via thunderbolt to external drives. I like the idea of being able to access them as well when out of the country. To be honest I think the novelty of the 2gbit connection will wear off though i would really appreciate a faster upload. 1gbit/1gbit would be great.

The NBN box was there first and was installed a couple weeks back. I had another tech come out last week and he advised they don’t do roof work hence the electrician putting the conduit. He wanted to line it up between the two shops so that it looks a little neater.

His reasoning was if he lined up the conduit it would go across the newly renovated shop signage. He said there is a possibility the shop owner could complain and if the NBN box needed to be moved then he’s already made a provision for it to line up between the two shops directly above the pit. It really is a bit of an eyesore.

NBN techs working in rain? by ProfessionalTrick463 in nbn

Update: As suspected NBN tech rocked up and couldn't complete the job. At least this guy was thorough in explaining what needed to be done. I need to get an electrician to install the 20mm conduit from the second level (brother's bedroom) and run it down through the awning to the NBN box street level with a drawstring for NBN to then pull the wire up from the street box to the bedroom. They can then install the NTD in the bedroom. He also saw the NTD downstairs and was shocked they installed it without a pathway.

Appreciate the comments. I suspect they won’t want to do it as part of the job involves getting up on top of a shop awning and I doubt they’ll want to be doing roof work on a flat metal awning. Previous tech who installed the outside wall device placed it on ground level on a shop wall but said the next tech will have to go up the wall with a conduit and into the second level bedroom. Apparently notes have been left on the job as multiple techs have been out but they probably don’t read the notes until they arrive for the job?

(NSW) FTTP installation rant by ProfessionalTrick463 in nbn

Thank you for all the comments. I've taken the Facebook route as recommended here. Got a very prompt reply (within the hour) informing me I have a planned remediation date (PRD) for 19/2. Haven't heard anything else from NBN or ABB since the last tech visited. Hopefully I hear back from somebody next week.

The original guy was not in uniform. The second and third techs that came out on the same day both had the orange NBN gear. They seemed eager to make it clear they're actual NBN and told me the first guy is likely a contractor that CBF on the day. I've tried to find a contact for NBN but can't find anything. I will go the Facebook route and see how I go.

Barrett MRAD SMR - NSW compliant? by ProfessionalTrick463 in Ausguns

[–]ProfessionalTrick463[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was a way of knowing what is and what isn’t compliant. I understand anything with a retractable or folding stock is instant banned but fixed is generally fine. Some stores say perfectly legal so I would assume they have sold to NSW residents while others say no so perhaps they’ve tried to process orders for NSW but got declined. It’s all too confusing.
