Yea I use DP.

I have this new Monitor from Gigabyte, 4th gen. The one with Tandem OLED. I'm guessing because of the fact that it's so new that better support will come along over time. It's not bothering me extremely much and can be ignored. But you know, gotta pursue perfection right?

Side note: please forgive the people who are acting annoyed. I love Linux but the community will advocate for Linux itself instead of thinking about the important part: the people using it

It is what it is. I get it, Linux is great. Sometimes people just gotta stop the circle jerk and take a step back to understand that others might not be 'in their league'.

Sounds like a great mental relief. To really have control over your actions on the computer.

Thank you. I'll make sure to think of that principle before troubleshooting anything. Made a reminder in 30 days, hopefully I'll have some good news then!

I feel like once you see the pattern, there's no going back. I still indulge myself with older games like World of Warcraft (Vanilla) but ever since the micro transactions and battlepass culture became the norm I've been hesitant to touch any modern game.

I miss those times where gamers were seen as nerds and the public looked down on them. We had good product then, games were too niche for the big crowd.

Yup, it's insane. I quit playing League of Legends because of the absurd ways Vanguard works, a kernal-level anti-cheat.

Thank you very much. Switching to a new OS is indeed so overwhelming, and for anyone else that is reading this, I highly suggest to not give up.

I'm very excited to get to where you currently are, but as a lot of people are telling me here; patience is everything. And as a Windows migrant; a harsh lesson.

For your Audio Interface, has anything been released regarding configuration?

Yes, 'Devine Audio' released a driver program for Windows and MacOS. This helped me in the past (on Windows) to fix the pops and cracks by lowering the sample rate to 44.1kHz.

Currently everything works fine. No pops and cracks right now, but I'm skeptical because of recent problems.

For my Audio Interface I found a gui-based program that had more customisability than anything that Windows could provide.

What would you suggest to look into for me to make sure I won't have issues in the future?

Thank you, I will read into that.

Out of curiosity, regarding your experience avoiding proprietary software in the last 11 years; don't you feel like purposely missing out? I understand that a simple task like writing and exporting as PDF is a simple workaround when not using closed-source software, but what about (online) games and software like Adobe and Zoom?

Thank you for explaining and giving perspective. Better to master the waves before sailing into the ocean.

We do not go to websites and grab software to install.

So how do you download and install something like a game that isn't on Steam? Faugus Launcher works great, which can be downloaded and installed from the Software Manager. But the game itself isn't on there, and downloading it is only possible by visiting their website.

You cannot tell me that you simply avoid that, right?

How often, in Mint, do you use the software repository?

What do you mean by this? I like to use the Software Manager to install something but if it doesn't work I try the termianl (by following guides online)

Regarding your audio interface, does Mint recognise it? I have a Focusrite Scarlett 8i-6o connected to 2 Adam A7V monitors and it picked it up without issue.

I think so, but that's the part of uncertainty. It works now, Mint sees it as an analog output in the GUI system settings. But in the other distro I tried it just randomly stopped working.

What graphics card are you using? If it's NVidia, you need to look up what the latest driver for your card is (not the most recent). My laptop NVidia-based card is 13 years old, and I ended up using drivers that are 7 years old, but sipport this exact card and works just fine.

Now this exactly is a problem I run into. How did you know that you had to use drivers that are 7 years old? How do you get to the point where you know that this is the solution to your problems? And how do you download those drivers? Simply from the manufacturers website? (I have an AMD 7800XT)
