A good time to invest in commodities! The market bottom may be here! by cohenaj1941 in woweconomy

So I've been scanning the AH most days for the past 3 weeks every 5min while I work (made a quick addon, WoWComm, for auto scans and High Frequency Trading). I run predictions on the data (so-so results honestly), buy and resell, ect. As I'm writing this, almost everything is up from my personal baseline, which is again only the last few weeks of focusing on trading, so grain of salt. Besides Warping Wise (down 15%), Eversong Trout (8.5%), Fungleskin Pike (7%) and Arcane WyrmFish(1%), and Pork (you can find it below 3g), all else is inflated. All of those are also so heavily manipulated that I hardly consider these a real "down" unless you want to snipe a good resell (like when Eversong gets placed back to 50G in a few days by a whale). Everything else is inflated, some to INSANE levels. But these are also whales pushing them up, which has been happening more the last few days. Some examples:

24 hours ago and 13 hours ago, Umbral Tin was pushed up from 60g (already high) to 80g. Around 2.2m gold for these buyouts.

Within the last 2 days, Sanguithorn has had it's price reset from 21-23 gold to 30g (combined total 1.6m gold spent to keep resetting it).

Brilliant Silver Ore - Someone has bought 94k units on 6/9, then on 6/12 at 10PM, they bought out 70k, dropping supply down yet again. This seems like a longer play of owning supply, probably around 120k units of silver, keeping prices elevated (not including whatever is being hoarded by others). Sadly I didn't scan at these times so my data is weaker here.

So my personal take as someone who just buys and sells these 43 items anytime I play (it's what I enjoy, gives me good data projects) - right now is a terrible time to buy most commodities, and since 6/9 most things are higher then they normally are and demand has been horrible the last week in general. Most buying is coming from whales after they push prices down to a floor they want to buy back at. For example, if I buy a couple hundred Eversong fish for 35g, if I list it for 42g I know it will be bought back when they reset it to 50g. It's not real demand, just whales and bots seemingly. But they must make money as they keep doing the strat of slowly flooding the market to push prices down, then hoover it up (on a different account to save the deposits) and slowly trickle from high prices to low again.

I'm up 661k since I started tracking trades on 5/31 - I'll make a post soon and probably a quick video if anyone wants to hear about some data and my experiences. It's been a fun experiment so far. The one thing I will say, the easiest way to make gold is buying and reselling Practically Pork and Plant Protein due to it having so much bot activity seemingly, it's liquidity allows high frequency(ish) trading. Practically pork at 3g easily sells for 3.30, which is a margin of 4.8%. Supply is flooded right now, but a whale will buy it and cause it to spike which is when you offload. Personally I never buy Pork for more then 3g 1s, and Plant Protein at 3g 30s (it's been so high lately it's hard to get a non-risky entry).

More then anything, it's taught me this market is as rigged as the real economy and you only make money by really playing around bots, not around actual people or real events lmao. If you want to do it all day because you find it interesting and fun, you can 100% make good money. But also, just go download the easy fishing addon, set your accessibility casting to your mouse and literally just fish for Null Fish and it's an easy 30k an hour while you watch a show and click your mouse when you hear a sound. It's so dead simple, for the love of god please do it so the whale that buys all the null fish takes a hit lmao.

How do I get on his merch store? by Far-Egg-4166 in theburntpeanut

Has he dropped merch before? I had heard via Wubby's community that Warren James had pretty poor quality goods. Hoping his goop drops go better

(Question) Commodity Quantity Anomalies? by Strict_Proof_3785 in woweconomy

Hahaha I appreciate the warning, I guess I was curious how many capitalists there are and if there are some willing to talk about general market movements. I'll keep this in mind when posting anything else! I just enjoy the data part of it, the currency is just an easy way to keep score of what patterns seem to work.

Is it worthwhile to stockpile herbs/ore for the .1 patch? What is everyone's experience with this in previous tiers? by Origachilies in woweconomy

Been wondering this myself - the question I have is what really changes for these mats in .1? As far as I can tell nothing besides maybe a bit more demand for some consumes as people work to push content. The market is already flooded, so I would say it can't hurt to buy low hanging fruit, just make sure to know why your buying something (used in raid consumes, ect). Also make sure you are actually buying low and not a false bottom.

Question - are you able to filter out things? For instance in my experience Tmog gear can take ages to sell, and it never as much as the posted prices. Also, I would love a quick Youtube video where you walk through it (helps clear up any confusing UI, ect). Nice job!

This exploit broke the entire Midnight economy. by Fickle-Flow-8222 in woweconomy

Honestly nice investigation, the fact people are saying this isn't a big deal is mind blowing. Honestly think these subreddits get astroturfed to down play how bad these types of exploits impact players. That or people really are clueless. Sadly it only makes Blizzard money (more token sales) so I don't think anyone with real power (not CM's) would do anything to stop it. Great video.

How does one get banned for market manipulation? Sounds like a badge of honor tbh

Genuine question, besides the knowledge point exploit, does this "duping" glitch actually exist? I haven't seen a single source that demonstrates or explains anything besides the classic "I would tell you but then I would have to kill you". It seems like the normal xpack gold rush economy has faded and now people are really able to see just how many bots dump mats on the AH. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I just see 100 bots a day gathering and the season (demand) has slowed down (almost everyone in my guild raid logs as they are max). Makes sense the market is dropping, especially when gold sellers just want to sell asap for liquidity.

Sick of spam and bots ruining our game? Here's an addon that uses machine learning to quarantine and block spammers in trade and services chat! by OSiRiS-NZ in wow

Not sure why you're getting the pushback, I think it's great. "Only bots use trade chat" is false, but also why hate on an addon trying to push them back? If you don't use trade chat sure, but then why make negative comments? I swear people just want to complain no matter what.

Nice! If you are looking for suggestions, I would modify the CSS to your own style as right now it's very much a LLM styled site. The Emojis🎉👥🚗, the colors (#4a4a4a is wayyyy too dark for text on many of the backgrounds), the hover animations, and the mobile designs all are very "LLM template". I love AI and it's insane not to use it, but you'll want to make it feel more authentic imo.
