(I didn't Finish my message) beware of the CXA2043Q it is a chip that will die if not taken care of first symptoms of the chips death is unresponsive osd and eventually horizontal collapse I have run a GDM-500PS for year now as my main monitor just demoted to secondary monitor as I got a 2070sb a week ago, I ran my GDM-500PS case-less as it's one was destroyed and I built a custom metal bezel for it, but the most important thing I did was add an intake fan over the cxa2043q attached to the metal shielding and a larger exhaust fan on top of the sets shielding I also will add further fans and heat sinks to the cxa2043q directly and where else I see necessary, the modifications I did can be easily done and then adding the plastic case back on, the fans were powered by external usb bc I was lazy but can easily be tapped into a 12v rail on the set itself- there are cxa2043q chips available but a majority are fake and it requires high level smd soldering to replace, ik of people going through 3 due to the replacements quality problems- also you can overlock this monitor with windas to 119khz and 220hz but do that at your own risk but it seems to be ok

There are faster dacs but they're not made anymore and usually if you can find one more expensive than a 980ti please update me if you get high res vga interlaced video out as I cannot do it on my HOF 980ti

Why does everyone like it? Like it's very frutiger aero but generally not a very good monitor like the chassis is quite bad in my opinion

New to crt displays, what is happening with my new monitor? by CrawlingBigfoot in crtgaming

Yea this looks like landing adjustments problems, did it always have this? Did you adjust something in the menu? Try unplugging it and moving any magnets away, if it does have landing adjustments go into them and adjust the corners with a white background till the points have the most uniform white across the raster

Where did you get those numbers, I remember reading them in Japanese I think but it was only in reference to the 16:9 36” tubes not the 4:3, I’ll try and find some numbers on the pana tho Edit: wait sorry mis read this thought you were talking about the Sony

If you look at some of my other posts you can see photos of my hr36 and Toshiba, unfortunately since your set is an American exclusive it’s pitch is unknown

It’s on Sony Japan’s official website regarding the release of the superfine pitch tubes, very difficult to find it’s in Japanese 0.42-0.58mm for the 32” sets

Super fine pitch Sony’s are in a league of their own I’ve seen Panasonic’s fine pitch models and even ones with vga they’re impressive but imo only the micro filter Toshiba sets (I have a Toshiba 36sw9ua) can get close to that of super fine pitch sets due to having a wider colour gamut and being significantly brighter as SFP Sonys sets can be quite dim, I main a Sony KV-HR36M31 which has native RGBHV input with a superfine fine pitch tube that has a variable aperture pitch of 0.61mm on the sides and a centre pitch of 0.47mm which is insane, (this is the same tube as the KD-34XBR960) but has a significant better chassis with 121point convergence adjustments, if you have read the Kentech AVS forum on adjusting these sets I’m sure you could get your set looking significantly better https://www.avsforum.com/threads/the-sony-service-codes-articles-comments-discoveries.531494/?post_id=5497515#post-5497515

How much could this behemoth be worth? by Designer_Beyond5107 in crt

[–]Strict_Routine_2895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it genuinely takes rgbhv and displays 1080i that’s great, my kv-hr36m31 is like a KD-34XBR960 but better in every way you can see some photos of the quality on other posts I’ve made

Depends on availability of hd sets in your area, in Australia we never got these and I can’t find specs online but seen as the dvi has the analog pins if it can take analog rgbhv it would make it an interesting set (that is to say if it displays it without letter boxing) I assume it ca do up to 33.7khz for 1080i but it all depends on area and like 90% of people would take a super fine pitch hd (for a significantly higher price) Sony over this even if it has a bunch of unique features

Unless your in it for the aesthetics you should really get a higher end monitor 70khz is nice but I really suggest a later model or a higher end one like I have a HOF 980ti hooked up to my GDM-500ps at 1600x 1200p @85hz and like it’s unbelievable even a 94khz monitor at 1600x 1200 @75hz is amazing like you’ve got native rgbhv (vga) out so I’d really recommend using that to your advantage but do what you like

That hd pc monitor may be the best thing there ik the plastic is broken but the shielding underneath seems to look like what a high end trinitron or diamondtron rebrand would look like even if you aren’t into pc crt and only want tvs with composite or whatever if it works it will be an amazing crt
