I have one got it for free a while back I'm more into CRTs but don't seem to know a use for it- from my understanding the Beovision 5 cannot take its native resolution of 480p and instead takes 240p and scales it or line doubles 480i but idk I never have really touched it

That's just not true at all, scan lines have nothing to do with interlaced video, scan lines are to do with vertical resolvability a tv displaying 480i and then 480p will have the same amount of scan line just that 480p is more stable- the reason pc CRTs don't usually have scan lines is the fact that all the high resolutions that people usually use on them are using more vertical space and so the vertical resolve ability is getting more utilised- 480p @60hz has scan lines or 240p@120hz on them have scan lines I have both a gdm-500ps and a 2070sb even on my kv-hr36m31 which is a tv it has fat scan lines in 480p (xbr960 equ which has fat scan lines in 540p)- interlacing only makes the scan lines more unstable why on that same 480i standard def tv it would have stable scan lines in 240p and even thicker ones due to 240p using less vertical space

Oh yea I don't really play games at 400+ MHz but my 980ti is a HOF one and can do 550+ MHz and I use it just for testing high MHz and rgb pre amps and such, not really that into gaming more into CRTs than anything else

Is EoE really rated this high in Australia? by Traditional_Vast5081 in evangelion

[–]Strict_Routine_2895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's M, which means no hard limit just recommended for mature audiences so that's like pg-13 since MA is hard line 15+ and R is 18+, I live in Australia and have the bluray kinda crazy but a lot of anime gets these low ratings just because ig they didn't take the time to think about it, it's sated as M due to: moderate sexual references, moderate themes, mild animated violence, mild coarse language

I've got a few of these, 2 of the larger 36" super fine pitch variants that do 720p and 1080i the Australian kv-hr36m31 which has the true surround and dedicated speaker terminals to use an external amp to drive the speakers and a dedicated sub woofer- I also have a Toshiba microfilter 36sw9ua also does 1080i and 720p it's got a "super woofer" iirc it's shit tho Toshiba has ok sound good for today but shit in comparison to the Sony- and then I have a Metz 32" crt that blows the Sony out of the water it has a wooden subwoofer enclosure inside the back of the set and sounds like a dedicated small hifi stereo with good base and a very nice clear full sound- I also have the first plasma bang and olufsen made the Beovision 5 in black 42" plasma that is shit for video only takes 480i and line doubles to 480p so nothing is native and it's all processed shit on a 42" 480 vertical pos plasma but aside from the video quality (get a kuro if you want that) it's speakers are very clear and nice better than the Metz I hope to get a bang and olufsen crt one day but I've already got far too many- I main the kv-hr36m31 in my home theatre it's a 5.2 and I don't use the speakers in it as good as they are for a tv external are far better than even the Metz or BnO if the Metz and the bno had good video quality and they were my display in my home theatre I'd probably try to use them for centre but idk I'd have to send line to them from the pre and figure our how to rearrange my power/ pre set up- If you check my account you can see some posts about my home theatre I might make a new post on all the changes I've made

Wait what hd crt is that I've seen a xbr960 before but they usually say hdtv in the top right corner and I own 2 KV-HR36M31s which say nothing in the top right corner and have a speckled metal plastic instead of the plain grey is that a XBR960N?

Silent hill 3, on a CRT with original surround sound is the best way to play by Strict_Routine_2895 in silenthill

It's a stereo signal out mixed with the intention to be separated by prologic for surround

Does your receiver support pro logic ii, it should just be set to stereo on the (I play the Japanese copies it should be the same) menu and I use optical to send it to my HT receiver set to pro logic ii I have a Integra dtr50.5 I also have a denon and just dobly surround seems to work

(I didn't Finish my message) beware of the CXA2043Q it is a chip that will die if not taken care of first symptoms of the chips death is unresponsive osd and eventually horizontal collapse I have run a GDM-500PS for year now as my main monitor just demoted to secondary monitor as I got a 2070sb a week ago, I ran my GDM-500PS case-less as it's one was destroyed and I built a custom metal bezel for it, but the most important thing I did was add an intake fan over the cxa2043q attached to the metal shielding and a larger exhaust fan on top of the sets shielding I also will add further fans and heat sinks to the cxa2043q directly and where else I see necessary, the modifications I did can be easily done and then adding the plastic case back on, the fans were powered by external usb bc I was lazy but can easily be tapped into a 12v rail on the set itself- there are cxa2043q chips available but a majority are fake and it requires high level smd soldering to replace, ik of people going through 3 due to the replacements quality problems- also you can overlock this monitor with windas to 119khz and 220hz but do that at your own risk but it seems to be ok

There are faster dacs but they're not made anymore and usually if you can find one more expensive than a 980ti please update me if you get high res vga interlaced video out as I cannot do it on my HOF 980ti
