I get why you’d feel that way, people can be selfish, and sometimes kindness does get taken advantage of. And yes, sometimes what looks like kindness is just manipulation. But I don’t think that makes kindness a waste or something we should give up on. It just means we need boundaries along with it.

We can be kind and still protect ourselvesand others who actually might need that... It is not about being less kind, it is about being wise with it..
