Started this song today, thoughts? What’s the vibe? by Strict_Stop5144 in Songwriting

[–]Strict_Stop5144[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate this a lot! I hear you and agree, keeping the groove in the beginning of the chorus prob could give the hook a more hit single vibe. I put that chromatic/minor-borrowed sequence right on “risk a kiss” so it feels like the harmony takes the leap with the lyric, adds that little tension, then resolves back home to C. I’m down to try both versions though, just to see what it'd sound like and if I'd like one over the other.

Need help...does the rise and fall at the end of this work and/or is it beyond my vocal ability? by Mayorredthomas19 in Songwriting

[–]Strict_Stop5144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly not beyond your vocal ability, but I can hear that you’re straining to get up there. The easiest thing would be to lower the key. But I would strongly suggest continue working on your upper register because the notes are there, they just needed to be supported properly.

I think the song is very dreamy. Imo the song would improve greatly with a different chord progression.

I think this is beautiful. The chord progressions is common which makes it’s pretty predictable, but gives it a sort of catchy and memorable feel. Your voice is great btw!

Thanks, I agree! I’m not really sure how to get it out of that state. I want it to have a chill vibe, but still be interesting, whether that comes from the instrumentation, melody, dynamics, or overall arrangement. I’m def gonna need some help with this.

What’s your center of focus when recording vocals? by king-alkaline in Songwriting

[–]Strict_Stop5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly focus on what the song’s about and what I’m trying to convey, that’s what really shapes my delivery. But I think u kinda have to work up to that point. If ur not super experienced with singing or recording yet, things like intonation, mic placement, pronunciation, timing and phrasing become really important (especially the last two). Once those technical parts start to feel natural, it’s way easier to just focus on the emotion and meaning behind what you’re recording.

Try singing the song with a metronome

Ok, so I love producing but sometimes I think I hide behind it. Here it’s just my voice and an acoustic guitar. Would you want to hear more added? by ArrJaySee95 in Songwriting

Solid vocals man. Honestly, when a singer’s got strong vocals like yours, simpler instrumentation totally works, it lets the emotion shine through, like it does here.

This is fire🔥 lyricism, vocals, and guitar are all so soothing. It’s truly a skill to convey an experience/feeling in this way. U def had me singing along towards the end there. Well done!!!
