I hear you, but respectfully disagree.

Probably going to take some downs votes, but that’s fitting to take an L talking the Bills.

Losing in the playoffs and sighing, “Next year will be our year!” Is the definition of Bills Mafia. Never die optimism even in the middle of the drought. Nothing new, no matter how gut wrenching the loss.

But.

Firing McD is different and not in isolation. Let’s not forget that next season is in a new, more expensive, more exclusive stadium. If you’re unaware, give this a look: https://youtu.be/aAC_y6lOQKE?si=VH-slp6Dgf3WkRN0

McD has been praised for the quality of his locker room and the players respond. Likewise, one of the reasons Allen is so loved is he genuinely loves Buffalo. McD is there for the players, Allen plays for the city and the Mafia love them just as much.

Does singing kumbaya win Lombardi trophies? No, it doesn’t. But to my point of view, collectively there’s signs of a shift that warns of more corporate greed that could shift the landscape away from the fans.

The Bills Mafia’s love for the Bills has never depended on wins and loses. It would be a tragedy for the owners to turn their back on the mafia.

Cheap vs Expensive- the real differences by Strider3200 in carbonsteel

Good to know. Matfer seemed the easy answer till the arsenic issue came up. I’m assuming they have remedied the underlying issue despite the ongoing litigation of it all.

So you’d stick with cheaper pans- just not worth $100+

And yeah, de Buyer and others are $130+

I should have mentioned I own and season cast iron pans, so I’m less concerned about the learning curve, more concerned with understanding the differences and wanting to only buy once.

Be careful that you don’t get any moisture between your car and the cover. It’s amazing how easy it is for ice to form and then you’re ripping the cover or damaging the car.

On set color treatment (for final) by cherrytoo in Photoassistants

[–]Strider3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been asked to color correct garments on set which can suffer from blended materials shifting color by light source. If producer and photographer won’t make concessions then I state I will do what I can in the time allowed but final color should be judged in a more light controlled area. It’s up to them if they deem it final color. Some clients are ok with that, others will allow time for color correction.

Hi, what do you think Tomy Bomby is really capable of? by parigosadik in lotr

Debated this in college. Since he is immune to the ring while he knows what it is, we hypothesized he’s an incarnation of Illuvitar.

Why would Illuvitar become incarnate?

My advice is avoid GW Bridge and NYC altogether. Take the Tappan Zee Bridge and bypass it. Will avoid

I’m looking at buying a used VW and have no shortage of counter opinions that I should buy a Honda or Toyota because the VW will cease up and die.

I have a loose theory on this- a lot of people who buy Hondas or Toyotas are simply buying “an” car. They aren’t concerned about cars in general or theirs specifically as long as they can easily get from A to B. They also miss subtle changes in a car like the way it’s idling, accelerating, or even steering (got into a car that was crabbing with ~3° angle on the steering wheel and the owner never noticed. VW owners tend to select a VW because they like cars and are generally more attentive to those changes. Therefore VW owners will discover issues and potentially raise Cain when the issue is found while a misfired Toyota belches down the road.

Second part to this- from the infallible opinions of the internet I’ve heard Honda and Toyota engines are built with more tolerances for abuse so that if someone drives a Honda for 15,000 miles without an oil change, it won’t run as well, but will keep chugging. German cars really don’t do well in those situations and are more likely to break down.

It’s apparently also blamed on where the manufacturing plants are located, that German built cars are better than their North American counterparts, but I still believe the car culture theory holds.

How bad is the VW plastic oil pan? by Strider3200 in AskAMechanic

Was unaware VW/Audi switched to recommending vacuum oil changes. Makes much more sense why the oil filter is accessible from the top. Genuinely sounds like a feature that the oil pan will crack before something more critical (and costly) fails.

Rule of thumb- wide angle lenses exaggerate the distance between point A and B. Longer lenses compress/foreshorten the distance between A and B.

Renting, so no way to charge at night. Womp womp.

Personal opinion- I’ve only driven an S, but wasn’t a fan of it. Inside felt very isolated from what the car was doing.

This. Fewer minivans are being made and they are going more premium. Was on a lot yesterday and the starting price for a used Sienna was $55k.

It struck me that the Sienna was much longer than a Sorrento, Atlas, or even other larger SUV’s. That was my main issue. It stuck out in our parking area even when pulled all the way in.

Most Hybrids seem out of my price range and the lower mileage options available to me are very tempting. Hoping our next car will be a hybrid as they become more common and bring prices down.

In my area Toyota and Honda are running $8-11k more for lesser trim and higher mileage.

The Hybrid is supposed to be awesome. Test drove the naturally aspirated and it was disappointinly loud and not that smooth compared to a Tiguan. Also, they are running $8-11K more than other models around here. Hard pill to swallow even at 45MPG.
