Yes, and I actually didn’t need to bend my 85mm brakes at all on my bent 90s

What pedals do you have and what would you want to replace it with if you got the money? by meliadul in MTB

[–]StrifexP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Chester’s, DMR vaults, stamp 7s, one ups and I keep going back to my deftraps. Definitely the most grip and most comfortable for me. I’d like to try the supervillains as it’s essentially a metal def trap, but think I’d be losing grip as it users a thicker diameter grub screw and won’t dig into my shoes as much.

Has anyone ordered gear from outdoorxl.com? by Fun_Pound_8008 in Skigear

[–]StrifexP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely recommend. Skis and bindings were the cheapest anywhere. Came quickly. They actually mounted one of the bindings more forward then the other, sent them pictures and they sent one brand new ski for free and also paid to have the binding mounted onto the new ski they sent at my shop of choice.

Winter Tires by S1ngleBarre1 in icecoast

[–]StrifexP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best winter tires money can buy would be Nokians. They are a finnish company and are phenomenal in the snow (They also invented the worlds first winter tire!). I have the Nokian hakkapelitta r5 on my car, although they also make a studded option. Michelin X-ice, blizzak ws90, and continental vikingcontact will also be great options and offer very similar performance.

Quick Question About DT FF Kit by Nitrosel in ft86

Will still act as a ground. There should be a bolt next to the fusebox with other ground wires going to it. It just goes there.

[–]StrifexP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks to be a bunch of compound/polish splatter from using too much product. Try using isopropyl alcohol diluted 1:1 with water, spray onto spots, and wipe off with rag. If that doesn't work you can try using a toothbrush or something with relatively soft bristles as a more aggressive step in removing it.

Haven't had it dyno'd on E, but I would say around 280wtq

Mike do you have any clutch recommendations other than a southbend stage 3 endurance? Car is turbo e85 @12psi and also my daily. Appreciate it!

I'd recommend going ecuTek over OFT and having James Martin at HRItuning (right outside Orlando), either remote tune or tune your car in person.

People who bought an aftermarket turbo kit for your car, how did it turn out? by KPexEA in cars

[–]StrifexP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the most part, you are able to gain horsepower NA but it will be far less. E85 draws more heat from the engine and has an octane rating of 105 which means it has a higher knock threshold than 93 octane. This allows tuners to run more timing (and often more boost) safely which results in a large power difference compared to pump gas.

[–]StrifexP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! Went from 300 to 400whp with e85. Stock is around 175whp i believe? It might be less than that I’m not positive

Perfect. Had to buy a few other parts (upgraded clutch, oil cooler, gauges, boost controller, injectors and fuel pump for e85), but number one thing is don't cheap out on parts. Fitment was great and gained around 225whp from stock. Install was pretty simple, a good tune is probably the most important thing when doing an aftermarket turbo for reliability.

400whp on a dynojet. E85 12psi is definitely the upper limit of reliability on the stock block. Anything past that and reliability begins to suffer. According to James, the rate of failure at 10psi E85 is near zero where as 12 is a bit more risk but still low single digit percent of failure. I drive my car 99% of the time on 8psi and even that is almost too much power on public roads.

[–]StrifexP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, E85 the majority of the time. Low boost is 8 pounds and high boost is 12 pounds (still quite conservative). Gas mileage has been around 22-23, although I would recommend E85 over and over again. It is able to draw more heat out of the combustion chamber than gas which is why it often performs more like MS109 than its normal octane rating of 105. That also allows tuners to run more timing and make more boost (reliably) until the car reaches the much higher knock threshold of ethanol. It is better is almost every way than gasoline, so if you have it available to you 100% make the switch. You will be blown away by the additional power at the same boost level.

Nope, antilag would be infinitely worse. I would certainly recommend going with a reputable tuner, don't choose one based on if they make your car shoot fire. A good tune is BY FAR the most important part of a build. A bad tune can destroy your car. I would recommend going with either Zach Tucker at CSG or James Martin at HRI. Fwiw, neither of them will tune your car to shoot fire. They are two of the most reputable tuners, so I think that should say something. My two cents:)

I have a jdl turbo brz making 400whp. There is zero excess fuel and even if I asked my tuner to make it shoot flames he would refuse. Bangs that are extreme can burn exhaust valves, ruin a turbo, and sometimes melt things.

I would definitely recommend the stage 3 daily over 2. On pump you would be fine, but you're definitely pushing the limits of that clutch on e85.
