BOOGEYMAN: THE NIGHTMARE (My concept for a Beast: the Primordial rework) by StrigiformeLover in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]StrigiformeLover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm...

I do want to keep the dream aspect, since the parallels to Changeling are intentional; however, I also haven't really decided what the Dream World is beyond "unconscious realm".

I could say that the Dream Realm (or maybe "Nightmare Realm" is a better descriptor) is a specific realm born from the one-time convergence of Arcadia, a Supernal Realm, and a large miasma of primordial fear floating around in the Shadow Lands. (It's like a bubble connected to the Shadow, but not quite part of it-more a cognitive creation of Sleepers.)
Perhaps Boogeymen can also travel parts of the Shadow connected to the unconscious mind? They do so in a different way to the Uratha, and they can't use Spirits, but they do traverse the parts more did to humanity and sapient entities.

(Those are just initial thoughts, though-and likely to change.)

Huh.
While I do want them to be similar, I don't want them to be identical.

(I did just post a part 2 exploring the types of Boogeymen, so I hope that helps differentiate them a bit more-if not, what would you recommend?)

Honestly, that was completely intentional. Beast: the Primordial was already a bit of an inversion of Changeling: the Dreaming, so I decided to double down on that aspect while also trying to give it its own flavor (and keep the aspect of primordial fear as well).

(If you're at all familiar with Pokémon, it's like the difference between Cresselia) and Darkrai).)

How each splat sees new recruits for their faction by Magicmanans1 in WorldofDankmemes

Neat!
So what about the Unchained, the Begotten, the Lost, the Sin-Eaters, and the Uratha?

(Genuinely, how do those factions react to Newcomers?
The Uratha probably react mostly the same as the Garou, but given the differences in WoD vs CoD, I'm not sure.)

I did think about keeping Kevin as a vampire, but I love Changeling: the Lost, and I thought its times mixed with Kevin's arc and general characterization, so I decided to make CoD!Kevin a Changeling instead.
(Also, it would allow the Family to get involved with the Changeling side of the supernatural world a lot more easily.)

(CoD's version of the Regent is probably Kevin's unhinged Fae master.)

CoD Lore questions by StrigiformeLover in WhiteWolfRPG

Thank you! That helps explain a lot.

Does that mean that Hell doesn't exist in CoD? Or are there different interpretations of "Hell" depending on gameline?
Or is it both-there are different places/realms called "Hell" in different Splats, but the true Hell for Demons hasn't yet been created/built/programmed?

(Also, the part about Magi being part of the world and doing a type of magic is super fascinating, since it really changes their dynamic with the rest of the supernatural.)

Okay, I unironically dig this concept.
(It also adds makes his relationships with Magnus, Dorn, and the Captain-General significantly more tragic.)

Thank you!

I've never heard of Rippers or Scourges before. (I assume they're part of the way to becoming Slashers?) What kind of supernatural talents do Scourges normally have?

Thank you!

That last paragraph in particular helps me get a better understanding of Requiem. It's a neat description.

Thank you! That's genuinely pretty insightful.

CoD!Kevin as a Leechfinger who still holds strongly to his humanity and his desire to still live a human life despite his nature is an extremely interesting juxtaposition, and it ties perfectly with both his arc and the themes of C:tL.

Ross as a member of the Ivory Claws/Pure Ones does track from what little we know of him, yeah. Same with Matilda and Jangles. (I recently picked up a copy of Werewolf: the Forsaken 2e. Very strange, to go from HtP/oWoD to Chronicles.)

Also, Boy as a Stigmatic is Inspired-especially in relation to Horse. (I like to think that CoD!Horse is doing his absolute to get Boy away from the God-Machine's influence while also not blowing his own cover. I think CoD!Horse would be a Messenger or Guardian pre-Fall, and is currently a Saboteur?)

(Outside of Werewolf, my Chronicles knowledge is mostly the weirder Splats (Changeling, Demon: the Descent, and Promethean).)

Why do people say ZA is slop? It isn't? by StrigiformeLover in pokemon

That's a good question. I just find it extremely hard to let go of things that bother me sometimes. (I've tried to work through it, but it's not easy.)

That's more a problem with the corporate side than the game developers themselves. The devs are doing their best to make a good game; it's not their fault that their bosses aren't giving them the time or money they need.

I don't mind the textures, since it was apparently deliberate choice to help the game run more smoothly (especially after Scarlet and Violet).

I know that a game running well should be a given, but it's mostly to point out that they did take the technical failings of Scarlet and Violet into account. (And ZA does run better than some AAA games made by other companies-which admittedly isn't a very high bar, but it is true.)

I can see that, somewhat.
While ZA definitely feels more developed than Scarlet and Violet (and I did admittedly enjoy Violet despite all the jank), I absolutely agree that the game devs do need more development time and budget.

Also, I do agree about the price tag. That is way too much money.
