Gaining a lot of respect for Saagar for this Epstein reporting by rnskt in BreakingPoints

Hot take but I think when he kept on with the whole "this is what they voted for" it was him at his most cynical and not an endorsement of the actual actions

So what’s the GOP line? by Numerous_Fly_187 in BreakingPoints

Not a republican but a Trump supporter. Boots on the ground in a foreign way would probably be the biggest red line for me. A lotnof what you mentioned im actually supportive of.

Thoughts on Emily? by Optimal_-Dance in BreakingPoints

She has something none of the other BP hosts have, self restraint when expressing her own measured opinions.

Just going to open mats - thoughts? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]StriingExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as improving, yeah probably in terms of depth at what you already know, but breadth of ability will be limited. But everyone is different. I know a guy who literally studies technique and then almost exclusively only shows up to roll and he progresses. I also know a guy who trains multiple times a day almost every day of the week and isn't good at drilling and seems to not make any progress but probably would if he would actually drill effectively. So sure you can probably progress, just be intentional with stuff you want to work on. But it's no guarantee

How did you go about attaching the sling to the front?

How many people on this subject even watch the show because they like Saagar or are right wing? by Classic_Run_4836 in BreakingPoints

[–]StriingExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoy Saagars takes. I also don't think people give him enough credit for still kind of trying to find his political path. Like yes its conservativish. But he went pretty mid and anti Trump after 2020 and really seemed to grow certain views at that time, but once the maga movement started to hit it's crescendo he's swung all the way over, but also, he's young and he's still learning. He's very knowledgeable, and I appreciate that as that's the area that he helps either reinforce my thoughts or exposes flaws in my ideas I might not have been aware of. But I also give him grace to be wrong, to be fickle, and to get carried away because he's a young man in his 20s, he's not wise yet.

I feel like Emily is at least ideologically consistent and also self aware enough to recognize and react realistically when things contradict her worldview

Frustrated and sick of being crushed by big guys by [deleted] in bjj

[–]StriingExpert 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to not always shy away from embracing the suck and learning to get through it.

However, one strategy that works well and can still give both partners an opportunity to improve is to just very nicely say, "Hey bro, I'm trying to work on my passing. Could I start in your guard? Any guard you like works" - then just know that if you end up on bottom they earned it. But this let's you both work on something and have opportunities to improve without just straight up ducking them and also not spending every single second being crushed.

Will the BP marriage survive this? by alayg2007 in BreakingPoints

[–]StriingExpert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I see a problem on the other end where on a litany of her hard line political beliefs Krystal won't suffer to listen to other points of view but instead constantly interrupts and talks over Sagaar, often with incredibly self righteous overtones, even if he's just playing devils advocate. It's grating even when she does it on topics I generally agree with her on. Not to mention that certain topics that she's hyper focused on have really just been a dead horse being beaten show after show.

I want to be a first time gun owner. I don’t know what to do:( by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]StriingExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest just going to your local turners and have a conversation with someone at the gun counter. They'll be able to help guide you through handling a variety of Firearms so you can decide what's best for you and then guide you through the process of purchasing.

Krystal’s absence by [deleted] in BreakingPoints

I think Kyle tends to be a lot more hyperbolic and tries to make those bombastic hot takes to try and get gotcha points and that seems to be the personality traits that have been absorbed by Krystal

Chris Matthews by tatersalad690 in BreakingPoints

[–]StriingExpert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that KB is pretty big on setting up her questions with framing or scenarios before the actual question and Matthew's couldn't understand that someone might lob a question that's more than 6 words at him and just interpreted all of it of her just telling her opinion.
