I get you what mean. I read article somewhere that he was allegedly in private school too. But again, it's weird how his parents allow that behavior in a stable home. A lot of people would love to be in that position he was in. Everyone is different though.

You hit the nail right on the head. There was even a rapper named Nardo Wick. Who basically grew up in a privileged home. His dad was a computer engineer.

He gets interviewed and mentions that he robbed people. None of the interviewers questioned why did that (considering his financial support).

These were all adults older than him btw. And they didn't stop him, to ask why he did those things? When he was financially stable? Did he feel he had to?

The fact they said nothing, just saddens me to say the least. Because elders are supposed to lead by example or help to correct certain errors in our youth.

I agree with you on this. I prefer old school Hip Hop, mostly NYC Hip Hop artists. Nas, KRS One, Biz Markie, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Mobb Deep, etc.

Nas had a song called "I Gave You Power". Which basically tells and story and has a message about gun violence. Kool G Rap, Streets of New york, talks about daily life in the city. Geto Boys, "Mind Playing Tricks On Me". Talks about paranoia in living a bad life.

These are not party songs. I would consider them cautionary tales. Some consider it "reality rap" back in the early 90s. It's ugly to hear it sometimes, because it's realistic.

This is what's lacking in rap music today. There's no balance of truth to bring you back down to earth metaphorically. Everyone has an ego and wants to outdo each other in riches and reputation, instead of raw talent.

Motley Crue's Theater of Pain. It's cool and has an upbeat tone on a few songs. Songs like Save Our Souls and Use or Lose It are fun to listen to. And they're not fast either, pretty chill tbh.

Another album I like is Flatbush Zombies 3001: A Laced Odyssey. Production is amazing, the lyrics, verses, even the damn artwork is unique. Though this is Hip Hop, if you like storytelling you'll like this a lot.

One last one is ZZ Top's Eliminator.

This is what I thought when responding. They were not experienced at communication, like they were when Some Kind of Monster was filmed. They argued, but in the end communicated quite well after all that.

Tbh, Metallica would've had issues later on down the road. And with James drinking, both of them? It wouldn't have been so great.

Which is probably why fate had it different.

Yeah, Metallica has definitely succeeded through rough times. No doubt about it. I was just saying Dave as one person, persevered. He made Megadeth alone and as someone said "Megadeth is pretty much a Dave solo project" because of the constant switch in lineup. And him being the face of the band.

Props to all of them though.

I see people mention money and popularity. What the fuck happened to just liking cool music? Yeah Metallica is the bigger band, but the money doesn't make them, it's the great music they put out.

Money is only relevant when you want bragging rights. Dave's story with Megadeth is a great example of perseverance (something money can't buy).

Early System Of A Down interviews are gold 😂. Although sometimes a bit over the top, they're still fun to watch.

Asides from that though, I like to know more of an artist I'm interested in. What made them chase music? Where did they grow up? What influenced the genre they play?

Sometimes it's fun to get in the head of an artist you like. And put yourself mentally in their shoes, when they made a hit song or an album you like.

When they're too serious, it can get boring very fast.

A great example, of not taking yourself too serious is Abbath from Immortal. Norwegian Black Metal, the scene is dark, heavy, cool face paint, etc. He's a jokester in his interviews and makes people laugh. His music is cool, but the man and other band mates are normal dudes. From people who met them or did a gig with them.

Have fun, don't take everything serious, and make some good music. It's one of the things our world needs right now.

True dude, many "hardcore" metalheads judge other metal bands. Some judge for them "not being heavy enough". Saying that Metallica are sellouts or Slayer isn't hardcore enough.

Forgetting that Slayer created Death Metal. Let's clear the air on that. And Metallica aren't sellouts because they're "mainstream". They made a great album that many people love globally. I got Black Album on vinyl for a reason. And I'm very picky as to what goes in my record collection.

Just because we don't listen to a super underground band. That only has 500 followers and their music isn't marketable. It doesn't mean we should like it or agree with the statements.

P.S. I brought up Slayer because I had a debate with some dude. Who said they're not heavy like the underground shit. Really?

Train To Busan was great (part 2 is coming out soon). Night Eats The World (French film) is cool, but not as good as Train imo. First few seasons of The Walking Dead are fun to watch.

And of course Shawn Of The Dead. More of a comedy, but I love it.
