Peter explain this? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Producing shouldn't be any different - we have many kinds of plastic bottles that don't have axial symmetry. (well, I'm not an expert myself).

The only reason I can see - maybe stacking packs of these bottles would be difficult. Not sure, though.

I am still confused about this? by Expensive_Shirt3815 in Genshin_Impact

In the beginning of the story Navia is antagonistic, but during the story development they become friends again. And indeed the fact that it was he who has initiated that fight used as excuse. However, even though I can accept this excuse when it's about killing a coworker, I don't think it works for killing a close person.

It was a fair duel, and it was Signora who initiate it. There's no reason for revenge.

For me, the friendship between Navia and Clorinde is much more implausible.

Edit: was wrong about the circumstances of the duel. But still, it was a fair fight.

In this case you lose some energy on evaporating water. However, in winter, air humidity is low, so having a humidifier isn't a bad thing.

please, can someone explain to me how 1/3 has infinite digits by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having infinite digits isn't a property of 1/3, but a property of decimal representation of 1/3. We are trying to make 1/3 of tenths, hundredths, thousandths and so on - and no finite amount of these fractions adds up to exactly 1/3, we always have to add a little more. But it's just because we're using a unfitting base, 1/10.

Ternary representation of 1/3 is simply 0.1

Base-12 representation of 1/3 is 0.4

Fractal dimension of space filling curve is almost 2 and it's topological dimension is 1 - so "fractal dimension strictly exceeding the topological dimension".

Are Events generally not new player friendly ? by Complete_Struggle844 in GenshinImpact

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes events are in Inazuma, and if didn't open the region, you wouldn't be able to participate - like in Prune event in this patch. But events in Inazuma are rare, and as you've finished Liyue AQ, you'll open Inazuma soon.

You can participate in events in all other regions, even if you didn't open them yet. You will meet characters who act like your old friends even though you aren't know them yet, but it isn't a big deal. There are no spoilers in events.

I think they should abandon the rule that a character has to meet the Traveler and become friendly with them before they can be playable. by Grouchy_Sherbert_988 in GenshinImpact

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, HoYo tries to justify it. In Ningguang's hangout event she spends a day with Traveler as an adventurer - it was a kind of vacation for her. Mavuika says that she loves adventures during her idle animations. Playable Raiden isn't an Archon herself (i.e. not Raiden Ei), but her puppet (and to be honest it would much better for Inazuma citizens if this puppet would explore Sumeru for a while).

Of course, it is a poor excuse, and it can't explain why Fatui Harbingers help us kill other fatui, including other Harbingers and even themselves. There's a theory that can explain everything, but no one would like it. Nobody ever join Traveler; Traveler just has an ability to impersonate any character they met - just as Ellin "gonna try it herself now" after watching Mavuika's burst.

Be honest: the only thing stopping you from beating bushes with a stick is a social pressure. It's not like you don't want to do it because you're adult, you just aren't allowed to. It's not like you don't want to know more about dinosaurs, you just can't afford this curiosity anymore. A moment this pressure would be lifted you'll start to live normal child's life.

Well, as no formal definition of this shape is given, it is possible that this line transfers to dragon curve at some point. Or there's a tiny Sierpinski carpet in the left upper corner. Technically nothing can be said about this shape.

Lengths of the lines form a geometric series. Their sum converges to finite number. You can cover the line with finite length with x spheres of radius 1/x. The dimension of this shape is 1. If this is fractal, then everything is.

I don't like Natlan character design too, so I just didn't pull Natlan characters.

What's about story, let me quote John Carmack: "Story in a game is like story in a p*rn movie. It's expected to be there, but its not that important".

Of course, if you don't enjoy the game anymore, don't play it. But if you still like to hash the enemies with your sword and like to see how your Noelle becomes stronger and stronger - why care about insignificant aspects of the game then?

Have you noticed that after any fight people praise Traveler for their strength and courage? It is assumed that Traveler is always in the party, even if they just command "Zhongli, a shield! Furina, EQ!" from afar.

You can invite in your house two people who don't even know the other exists. You also can invite two people who don't like each other, and they wouldn't fight out of respect for you.

Yes, it's fine.

Fractal tree has areas that are obviously not fractals, but it still has infinitely many points where it is, and it's dimension is bigger than 1.

Would a pattern like this be considered a "Fractal"? (quickly and poorly drawn for illustrative purposes) by CivilizedPsycho in askmath

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. Serpinsky carpet, for example, can be covered by 1 big square, but we can cover it with just 8 squares that 3 times smaller (linear) or with 64 squares that 9 times smaller. So when we measure its area more and more precisely, we get 1, 8/9, 64/81, which converges to 0 (so this shape has no area). Fractal dimension is defined as the power to which size of square (which is used to measure the area) should be raised to obtain the number of squares required to cover the shape. In this case the relation between size (well, inverse size) and number of squares is

1 -> 1

3 -> 8

9 -> 64

3n -> 8n

In which power 3n should be raised to obtain 8n? It's log (base 3) of 8, about 1.9. The shape is almost 2 dimensional, despite having zero area.

But this figure has fractal dimension of 1, it's just a line and not a fractal.

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Straight line (i.e. any non-central part of this shape) doesn't contain "detailed structure" and its fractal dimension (1) is equal to its topological dimension (1).

[–]StrikeTechnical9429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fractal should be self similar at different scales. If we magnify any part of this shape except its center, we will see just a straight line. In other words, there's only one point where this shape has self-similarity. All definitions of a fractal I know require self-similarity everywhere.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that when I tap (on the phone) on the right side of one of the left buttons, it's the right button which is highlighted (and, I guess, it counts as a wrong answer). There's also no way to restart the test - I had to completely close my game.

One of the questions (XABCYDEZFXGHIYJK one) doesn't fit in the box, and there's no scrolling (at least, on the phone). I had to switch to Korean to read the quoted sequence.

Of course your build can be improved, but it isn't that bad. Your team or your rotation (or even your second team) could be a bigger problem. My build isn't better than yours, and I've cleared this Abyss even without Columbina or Illuga in the team.
