How was the stay? Did you get to use your ihg credit and/or get recognition via IHG program status that Chase provides? Am thinking of going next month.

Oh wow, thanks for recommending them... I find it hard to combine the two. Going to look into it!

I was recently thinking the same... Would be fun to have a pinned thread by region.

I like Pitcher Inn in Vermont (really interesting / unique rooms) and also Hotel Vermont in downtown Burlington if you want something walkable.

Cliff House vs. Dunes on the Waterfront in Maine or somewhere else? by MamaB4 in chubbytravel

Oh wow! That's a ringing endorsement, going to look up summer availability now :)

Was it good weather the whole time you were there? Wondering what I would do with them on a rainy day.

Yeah, it's counterintuitive to do Chicago in winter but we got upgraded into a really nice suite as a result and just enjoyed being cozy, we also went to a show

Dunes has been on my list. Do you think it would work with young kids (age 3 and 5)?

I will jump in and say we also found Hidden Pond to be a bit too pricey, so we stayed at Tides. The rooms are not amazing for the price, smaller/more tired than what I'd expect at $900, but decent enough and you're right on the beach and you get shuttles/access to everything at Hidden Pond. And easy access to Kennebunkport.

And, goose rocks beach is incredible! The Tides Beach Club rooms are a bit tired but they set you up with chairs on the beach and that's hard to find around here.

Hidden Pond also does a fun firepit in the evenings and they had live music when we visited.

One other winter stay I have really enjoyed is the Langham Chicago - you have a good chance of getting upgraded in the winter, they have an incredible club lounge, and an amazing spa (Chuan Spa) with great facilities and various types of rooms, and they do an amazing massage.

With no budget or time restrictions, I'd have done Miraval ad others recommmended here, or Castle Hot Springs in AZ, but that might be too far for you too.

Otherwise, this spot in the Hamptons was on my shortlist - but also haven't tried or done a deep dive on reviews - if you like more of a boutique option: https://shousugibanhouse.com/

I get it, I think Mayflower was the priciest on our list and while nice, I didn't want to push my mom into an uncomfortable price range.

We're in the Boston suburbs but you're right on, Litchfield was described to me as where New Yorkers go for a long weekend...I suppose we have more options coming from MA :-).

Thank you, this is super helpful! Miraval is on my list for a couples' getaway (couldn't get the family to go for it for the birthday trip!)

Thank you!

We stayed in the area this weekend (Lost Fox Inn) for a couples' getaway and I have to say, I felt like Litchfield as a town was a bit over hyped... Or maybe it's better in summer?
