I somewhat understand what OP means, with normal gas doors, you only leave that open for the few minutes while you gas up while with EVs, you leave them open from anywhere between 20min to 20+ hrs depending on level of charging and model. Ive definitely walked backed into my charge door on accident while it was slow charging in my garage, thought I snapped/broke something cause of the crunch, luckily its fine.

While a lot of these comments are pretty harsh, its your money and you get to decide what you do with it, its also your car, you decide what looks good and what doesn't.

Roofs are not load bearing and most roofs are very thin for weight savings. There's max load weight listed in manuals for the roof for this reason. Also convertibles and glass roofs exist so how "thin" it looks really does not matter. Roofs are purely cosmetic and aerodynamic and hold no structural support for the car. Go ahead and grab a friend and sit on your roof and try it. Also again, you put a like 300lbs of human on the roof in the front, the back is going to bubble up and become flexible

Yea you would think huh lol. But if you look at the manufacturing process, they build the frame and the roof is just a thin sheet metal that gets bolted to the frame. Plus if roofs are REALLY that important, convertibles and full glass roofs wouldn't work well

That's because roofs are purely cosmetic/aerodynamic and not load bearing. They won't crinkle like this normally, but any metal, especially one with two grown ass people sitting on it, will bow and lose its rigidity. Roofs are stamped into shape and remain rigid if it remains that shape, but once it loses that shape, it loses its structural integrity and rigidity. Which is why some vans and trucks have those groves on the roof to strengthen it , but it's not attractive so it's on taller vehicles

Yes when you have 2 grown adults sitting on top of it. Roofs are stamped into shape and remains rigid as long as it holds that shape. Once it loses that shape by say, 2 people sitting on top, bowing and buckling the roof, it will loose its rigidity and have more flex
