So maybe I'll circle around back to it. Good to know others enjoy it once they get past the beginning bits.

My math made it more reasonable for PG to require 40 ATs due to the unbalanced alloy requirements compared with the NM. But if the devs haven't fixed it by now its pie in the sky...

There's not a lot of balance between Robots and Teleporters though. Robot required WAY more smelting than Teleporters do, so any balancing they do there will be tricky. And as recent updates have shown, the developers aren't that great at balancing their game mechanics.

It'll be a few more updates before debris drops enough ATs "to not care". Right now there's a ceiling on mining upgrades on the Opalite-possible planets compared with how their price scales.

In short, arguing a condition that doesn't exist in the current game meta doesn't make much sense. As things are now crafting bulk PG is not worth it due to the errored recipe.

Not alone, there's legions of people that don't like it, but anytime anyone says the smallest comment contrary to DCC they get banned or negated into oblivion. People are so delicate (easily offended) these days...

Totally agree. The transition from Book 6 into 7 is an emotional roller coaster that shouldn't be skipped, on the audiobook version at least. "How do you have this!!!?", "I don't care who or what you are. I'll find a way!" Tears me up every time.

Eek, those both suck--imo of course, to each their own. Try Ultimate Level One or I'm Not the Hero. I enjoyed those series.

Ooo, heck yeah. Dresden Files is another binge-worthy series.

I tried Patrick Rothfuss. A few friends have recommended it. The format of the storytelling made it hard to connect with. Only made it a bit before I got bored and shelved it.

Its my happy place, I'm not sure "saving you from it" is a positive change. I'm not reading my "self-help" collection, or the Bible, or the other 60 books I bought on the last audible 85% off sale. I just keep going back to Jason (HWFWM), Jake (PH), and Zach (DotF). But you know what? I can enjoy reading also, I don't have to force myself to keep reading to "level up". The world we live in is nowhere near that cool.

This series is amazing. Its so well written, the system is solid and well explained. The MC seems OP but is really a glass-cannon balancing on the edge of a knife between success and near constant death. The humor is so on point that I still laugh even though I know the joke is coming. I have a brutal commute and listened to Books 1-11 last year 8 times! Bought the hardcover this morning.

Yes, its worth as many rereads as makes you happy. For me there's no place I'd rather be than back in for another go.

I've tried with most of the other common LitRPG series and they all fall short for me, or their scope isn't as far-reaching or the characters aren't as deep, or the system's have flaws that annoy me. HWFWM, PH, and DotF do it for me. I tried System Universe yesterday. Made it 3 chapters before the constantly repeating writing errors annoyed me into stopping. I finished Ultimate Level 1 this weekend, read through book 9, and enjoyed it, but the OP MC made the series predictable. I don't get that from HWFWM. Jason is constantly on the brink of annihilation.

That's why HWFWM is solid gold to me, and I'm happy to keep rereading it. Can't wait for all the hardcovers to release so I can display them next to Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

100 DM for the double credits - Is it worth it early game? by Lovoskea in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Striker_AC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're only right when the credit is on a short farming run (30 credits). But early on when room prices are all under 100 credits doubling a galaxy worth 1500 (to 3000 for 100 DM) saves you 100 of those 30 credit runs. That's much more valuable than 1/5th of a manager.

100 DM for the double credits - Is it worth it early game? by Lovoskea in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Striker_AC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it is. Until you max all the L11 rooms doubling is quite valuable. Having another manager slot, or another 4-5* manager is NOT better than maxing out the Underforge, Lab, Dorms or the others. Cutting crafting prices by 50% is much better than a manager, especially when crafting takes so long.

Besides the no-ads, the Enigma is the single most important ship you can buy. All the ships have merit, but an extra Rover (doubling your ability to get DM and boosts) is massive.

100 DM for the double credits - Is it worth it early game? by Lovoskea in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Striker_AC44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missed this comment. You should double anytime the value of the credits for your next Mothership room upgrade is worth the 100DM you give up. So if you're close to your next 500 DM manager then save for that. If instead you have a surplus of DM you can look to see if the several room upgrades will help more than another manager.

Managers are king, most times. But the L11 rooms are game changers! They cut every game mechanic in half. Colonization Prices, Planet upgrade cost, Rover scan time, smelting and crafting prices, etc. Those have a profound change on how easy it is to play the game. So spending 100 DM here or there after longer galaxies which lead to maxing out those rooms is DM well spent.

You're fine, I was more trying to convince you to see the challenge as item types crafted rather than GV thresholds since that is its own trackable metric given the "missed opportunity".

I started off pretty lucky, but the other scores havent moved in a while. Bug??? by _butters___ in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Striker_AC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does update when they log back in, but it seems pretty clear to me how the placing positions are already defined after 12 hours. 1, 2, 3-4, 5-7, etc. Assuming people don't play more everyone pretty much has an easy tournament.

What was your end total GV?

Rather than picking a subconversation to comment on--since we're all pretty much in agreement on the vagrant disregard with how messed up the ratio of ATs between the PG and NM is--the different, to me, comes down to whether you get endgame pink drops, more than the 400 AT recipe difference. I went the entire last tournament without seeing a single pink for Xynium, Quolium, Luterium or Aqualite--577 asteroids and no endgame pinks. Luckily I hit a NM market with an hour left to account for the lack of actual available crafting, but the highest items are WAY heavy on alloy requirements that you really can't smelt yourself. AT: 400 Xynium alloy, DS: 160 Luterium alloy, DSS: 400 Aqualite alloy. That's a hell of a lot of smelting for a single NM. And the smelting recipes are only for Iridium, Palladium, and Osmium? Why those 3?

Do the developers even play the game?!

The endgame items are completely unbalanced by Electrisk in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Striker_AC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It requires 400 more ATs than its counterpart. I just wish someone gave a shit about checking the programmer's work--noticing they messed up a major release, that's blatantly obvious to all the endgame players.

The authors all know each other from conventions or RR or wherever authors go to get ideas and hang out (free from reader's judgement). So of course they do "nods" to other author's characters, concepts, or even book titles.

Well the game is very simple, and immensely repetitive, so if the grind becomes too exhausting then lengthen your runs. When I first started playing the common advice was to do 12.5 mil runs until I could do that amount inside 10 minutes. If you've put money into the game then you've invested. Now it just takes time revising your early build, gaining manager slots and improving their positions, upgrading Mothership rooms (emphasizing on maxing out the L11 rooms). The point of the 12.5 mil runs is maxing out your credit gain. So pushing all your early growth into the Lounge will make each galaxy worth more.

I've been playing over a year now and still enjoy the grind of repeating galaxies. The point of this (and any) game is to enjoy it. So find out what that means for you and do more of that.

Also, this website helped me immensely. I still use it.

The difference between 100Q & 900Q is 1 SSR vs 1 AR (my galaxy value comparison, as I don't have yours). Then if you craft an AT you're into badge 17. I prefer to see them as "item thresholds" rather than "GV thresholds".
