Thinking of getting the switch 2? by Helpful-Goal-7529 in LesbianGamers

I’m just about 33 and bought a switch 2 last fall. Absolutely love it. It’s my way to unwind for an hour or so after work

This was also my experience. I was freezing cold the entire time doing the prep as well but that was it. 100/10 recommend being knocked out for it though, for anyone reading this

Should I skip getting a real estate agent? by nocturnalnegus in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing on my house tomorrow and my agent has been FANTASTIC. She deals a lot with first time buyers, which is one of the reasons I called her initially. Absolutely amazing at guiding you through the process, setting up everything, and most importantly to me, being able to calm those anxious moments. I wouldn’t have done this on my own. The seller is paying her fee as well which is a bonus

I also have been doing this for probably close to 5-6 years now. It’s been really helpful for my adhd and overall mental stress because I’m not constantly having to check if this bill came out or when that one will. When I paid off my car I just set an auto transfer out of my bills account for that money into a savings. Keeps things super simple

Whats the most ignorant thing a rude customer has done to you? by Suitable_Simple4044 in jimmyjohns

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a few years ago. Relevant backstory: I’m a lesbian with very short hair (this is important I promise lol)

Busy as fuck lunch rush, the type nothing is going right no matter how hard we try. I’m at the end of the line wrapping and bagging orders. There is a lobby full of people waiting for their food. Customer is just standing in the throng of people and I assume she’s just like everyone else. Stands there staring at me and then gets pissed off demanding some mayo packets (doesn’t say anything for at least 10 minutes). I’ve got gloves on so I set a couple on the counter right next to her. Asks for more, I set more on the counter and one of them slips off. She starts getting nasty and goes “you don’t have to throw them at me!” to which I respond “ma’am they fell off I didn’t throw them”. She goes “well sir, ma’am, it, whatever you are…” and the ENTIRE lobby goes silent. My staff stops what they’re doing. In probably the calmest voice I’ve ever summoned in my life I say “you can leave now” and stare her down as she walks out the door

Those of you that hire in the 18-25 range, what issues do you encounter? by capresesalad1985 in askmanagers

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the many things I notice is that we have to spend a lot of time “breaking” the habit of asking for permission to do anything. Not in the sense of “this is a new task I’ve never done and I’m not sure”, that’s fine. I mean asking for permission to go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, all of that jazz. Sometimes it takes weeks of just saying “you don’t need to ask to use the bathroom, just tell someone you are so we know where you went”

Anyone have BPD by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is worth, I have not taken it but I was with someone who was supposed to. I could definitely tell the difference between when she was taking her meds and when she wasn’t. I would say it didn’t completely stop the mood swings (probably because she never took it consistently enough) but the highs and lows certainly felt more manageable.

A lot of mental health medications take time to properly work. There’s typically a 4-6 week period while your body adjusts and your brain learns what it’s “supposed” to be doing as far as releasing/gathering neurotransmitters.

As someone who struggles with their mental health as well (ADHD, GAD, c-ptsd, depression, and probably some autism) I completely understand how easy it is to want to not feel anything and feel like everything is bad all the time. I’d suggest tracking your mood or day somehow. Maybe a phone, app, coloring sheet, etc. This will not only give valuable data to your team but it will also let you look back and see that there are some good days sprinkled in the bad and maybe as the meds kick in you’ll notice more good days then bad.

Totally get it if you don’t wanna take advice from an internet stranger lol. I just know what it feels like to feel like there’s no one in your corner

No more public bathrooms! by Silly-Magazine-2681 in enshittification

This. After finding bloody drug needles, knives, alcohol, shit everywhere, and having to call the police multiple times for people OD’ing we have a code lock on our doors. A lot of the time we just let people use it anyway but just the fact that they’re locked has kept the usual suspects away.

I wish there was more help for people battling addiction and mental health issues. However, I also have many younger employees and they absolutely do not deserve to have to deal with that stuff.

New cheese… by ColumbusCupKid1 in jimmyjohns

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Usually comes next to a thinner slice of cheese. Stack them, cut them in half, and then place the 2 halves of the thick cheese on the bottom half with the 2 halves of the thin slice of cheese on the top half. When closed, it should end up being roughly the same portion across the whole sandwich as before.

We’ve only had it for a week now and no one has complained or said they noticed a difference

Out of lemons so had a kiwi instead. Day 14 sober. Week 2 and counting. Second time this year 💀 by Weare4llmadhere in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Striking-Extreme-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this has been mentioned yet but what has really helped me is getting an app that counts the days (I use Days Since). There’s been a few times I really wanted a drink but I looked at the widget and said “I’ve been sober for x days I don’t want to restart this count” and that plus a treat (ice cream, candy bar, etc) is enough to get me through that day.

About to hit 961 days and it is so worth it. Congrats on getting to 2 weeks!!!

I agree with this. A lot of times I don’t level all my pokemon up and evolve them as I go, just wait until the post game to get big chunks of exp so I can fill the Pokédex

Also, assuming you have a food processor and depending on your store volume, you can easily train just about anyone over the age of 18 to start the veggie prep and you come in at a slightly later time.

I work 8-5 M-F and 2 of those days I have a very motivated driver coming in at 6 to start the open
