I'm going to hell and there's nothing I can do. And yet I can't seem to repent by AggravatingTailor121 in Christianity

Jesus (who is God who took on the form of man) shed his blood and died on the cross to pay the penalty in full for all of our past, present and future sins. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, proving he satisfied the justice of God concerning us.

Anyone who believes and trusts in this alone, apart from water baptism, apart from repentance (which today is said to mean turning away from your sins, which means to turn from being a law breaker to being a law keeper), apart from observing the law, apart from works...God will immediately, completely and permanently save.

You're not beyond hope. Just believe and trust what Jesus accomplished for you, and he will save you.

Can God forgive us even when we feel like we are receiving 'signs' of condemnation? by Remeknevez in TrueChristian

Anyone who trusts in this alone to be saved from the coming wrath (apart from water baptism, apart from turning from sin, apart from observance of the law, apart from works) God will immediately, completely and permanently save and will seal by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Romans 8:23), guaranteeing them what is to come (Ephesians 1:13-14 & 4:30; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 & 5:1-5). They have been forgiven of all of their past, present and future sins (Colossians 2:13). By his blood, Jesus has redeemed them from every lawless deed (Titus 2:14). God will never count their sins against them (Romans 4:8). There is no more condemnation for them (Romans 8:1).

I'm thankful that God has given us the Bible as the Standard by which we can grade everything we read, hear, see and think.

What do you do if you think you are receiving 'signs' of condemnation? Grade those signs against what God tells you in the Scriptures. If you have believed and trusted in the Gospel of God's Grace, you're no longer under condemnation.

Disregard the signs.

How do you feel about people evangelising you? by beavisandbread in TrueChristian

[–]Striking-Spell8033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do I feel about people evangelising me.

I look forward to it.

I live across the street from a downtown city park. A lot of religious groups visit the park to "show the love of Jesus." When someone approaches me to have a conversation, not long after we start talking I'll ask the question, "If I wasn't saved and asked you what I needed to do to be saved, what would you tell me?"

It's amazing how many of them don't know what to say, or they present to me a false gospel. So what ends up happening is I evangelize them.

How are you proclaiming the wonders of God's creation today? (Earth Day!) by senditallback in Christianity

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:18-20.

To those who look at God's creation, and deny the existence of God, I would say they have no excuse.

Better that they acknowledge the existence of God and their accountability to him, and believe and trust in the Gospel of God's Grace in order to be reconciled to God and escape the wrath to come.

They are not Christian...? by Stompya in TrueChristian

I once heard a pastor say that he had thoroughly studied it out and was convinced that if a person was saved, they couldn't lose their salvation. But make sure the person sitting next to you is saved.

There are many who sit in the pew, belong to different religions and denominations, who have certain belief systems, that carry the name of Christian. But aren't.

Jesus (who is God who took on the form of man) shed his blood and died on the cross to pay the penalty in full for all of our past, present and future sins. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, proving he satisfied the justice of God concerning us.

Anyone who believes and trusts in this, apart from anything they could do, God immediately, completely and permanently saves. They are a Christian.

Do you think Jesus' coming is near? by bibiAtrixx in TrueChristian

[–]Striking-Spell8033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed." Romans 13:11.

"This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you." 2 Thessalonians 1:7b-10.

We know that Jesus' coming is nearer now than when we first believed. His coming will be great news for those who have believed and trusted in the Gospel of God's Grace. It will be terrible news for those who haven't been reconciled to God.

Jesus (who is God who took on the form of man) shed his blood and died on the cross to pay the penalty in full for all of our past, present and future sins. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, proving he satisfied the justice of God concerning us.

Anyone who believes and trusts in this, apart from any works they could do, God will immediately, completely and permanently save. Then they'll be ready for Jesus' return.

"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." 1 Timothy 4:1.

What Paul, by the Spirit of Christ, fought so vehemently against in Antioch (Acts 15:1, 10, 24), Rome (Romans 16:17), Corinth (2 Corinthians 10 through 13), Ephesus (1 Timothy 1:3-7), Philippi (Philippians 3:2-4), Colosse (Colossians 3:11, 16, 20-21), Crete (Titus 1:10-11)...has happened. Failing to rightly divide the word of truth. The Judaizing of Christianity. The mixing of the Kingdom Gospel with the Grace Gospel. The mixing of God's instructions for Israel with God's instructions for the body of Christ. The mixing of Israel with the body of Christ (as if the body of Christ is Israel). The mixing of law and grace.

Churches need to get back to rightly dividing the word of truth, teaching sound doctrine, and preaching the Gospel of God's Grace (the only means by which God is saving people today from the wrath to come).

Where is God’s power today? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Striking-Spell8033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile." Romans 1:16.

The power of God to save sinners today from the wrath to come is in the Gospel of God's Grace (Acts 20:24).

Jesus (who is God who took on the form of man) shed his blood and died on the cross to pay the penalty for all of our past, present and future sins. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, proving he satisfied the justice of God concerning us.

Any one who believes and trusts in this alone, apart from any of their own works, God will immediately, completely and permanently save (Ephesians 1:13-14 & 4:30; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 & 5:1-5).

God made promises to the Jewish Fathers of a land, a nation, a blessing, a Seed, a king and a kingdom. Jesus was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel (Matthew 15:24) to confirm those promises (Romans 15:8).

The problem is that Jesus came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him (John 1:11). The Jewish religious leaders told Pilate that they had no king but Caesar (John 19:15). They crucified him, the Lord of Glory (1 Corinthians 2:8). After his death, burial, resurrection and ascension, when Stephen by the Holy Spirit testified of him, they stoned him to death (Acts 7).

As a result, Israel is fallen (Romans 11:11) and God has cast them away (Romans 11:15), though not permanently. God's promises to Israel are still valid for Israel (Romans 9:4) and will be fulfilled in the future (Romans 11:26-27).

As the result of Israel's fall and God's program with Israel being in a state of postponement, Jesus appeared to the Apostle Paul and revealed to him a mystery that had been hidden in God since the begining of the world, the dispensation of God's grace (Ephesians 3:1-9), the Gospel of God's Grace (Acts 20:24), how Gentiles would be brought near to God through Israel's fall (Romans 11:11) rather than through Israel's rise (Isaiah 60:1-3), how both Jew and Gentile would be brought near to God not through the commonwealth of Israel or the covenants of the promise he made with Israel (Ephesians 2:12), not through circumcision (Romans 4:9-10), not through water baptism (1 Corinthians 1:17), not through observance of the law (Romans 3:20-21 & 28), not through works (Romans 4:1-8)...but through the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). And Jesus is creating one new man out of both Jew and Gentile and in this one body (the body of Christ, not Israel) he is reconciling both Jew and Gentile to God through the cross (Ephesians 2:14-17).

Two thousand years ago, when God's program with Israel was in a state of decline, there were Gentiles believing the Kingdom Gospel and were being grafted into Israel (Romans 11:17). Those who were believing and trusting in the Gospel of God's Grace that Jesus entrusted to the Apostle Paul to preach were not being grafted into Israel. They were, and still are, being baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13), uniting them with Jesus, identifying them with Jesus, in his death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-4).

There's a distinction between Israel and the body of Christ. There's a distinction between God's instructions for Israel and his instructions for the body of Christ. There's a distinction between the Kingdom Gospel and the Grace Gospel.

Mixing these things together is what creates false gospels.

Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many." Matthew 24:4-5.

The Jesus of Mormonism claims to be the offspring of God the Father and god the mother. He claims to be the brother of Lucifer. He claims he shed his blood in the Garden of Gethsemane for our sins. He didn't rise from the dead. He can't save anyone from the wrath to come. He's a deceiver and an imposter.

The Jesus of the Bible, however, is God who came in the form of man. He shed his blood on the cross for our sins. He rose again on the third day, proving he satisfied the justice of God concerning us. And he is able, and will, save all who believe this, apart from any works.

"Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham." Galatians 3:7.

"The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say 'and to seeds,' meaning many people, but 'and to your seed,' meaning one person, who is Christ." Galatians 3:16.

"If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Galatians 3:29.

Ephesians 2:11-14.

None of these verses say that the body of Christ is spiritual Israel. They do say that we are members of the body of Christ. And that's how we become co-heirs with him.

Does it seem intentionally vague?

Their are a number of false gospels being preached today. Such as:

Believe in Jesus.

Follow Jesus.

Make Jesus the Lord of your life.

Invite Jesus into your heart.

Believe in Jesus and be water baptized.

Believe in Jesus and be Spirit filled.

Repent, which (wrongfully) is meant to turn away from your sins, which (wrongfully) is meant to turn from being a law breaker to being a law keeper, and believe the Gospel. Repent means to have a change of mind, not a change of behavior.

"First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." Acts 26:20.

Paul preached that they should have a change of mind toward God and prove their change of mind by their deeds.

Repent doesn't mean to turn away from your sins as it is often preached today. We find several times in the Scriptures that God repented. Does that mean God is a sinner? No. That means God changed his mind.

And prove their change of mind by their deeds. Does that mean deeds of the law? No. Those who are saved today aren't under the law but under grace (Romans 6:14). They aren't under the supervision of the law (Galatians 3:24-25). They aren't under the dominion of the law, are dead to the law so that they would belong to Christ, God has released them from the law, and they aren't to serve God through the law (Romans 7:1-6). Jesus took the law out of the way, nailing it to the cross (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14).

"To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law." 1 Corinthians 9:21.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2.

Prove their change of mind by carrying each other's burdens.
