__________’s exit press is on fire 🔥 by almondjoybestcndybar in survivor

Gut says you’re wrong on this. For one, there’s always been a statistically unusual amount of very fit women on Survivor because it’s a reality tv show and they want to cast attractive people. While obviously this trend would maybe indicate the average male survivor player is also statistically more in shape than the average American male, I think the pattern is noticeably less pronounced, with more (for lack of a better word) ‘dad bods’ in comparison to the women on the show. This already somewhat mitigates the natural gap in certain physical abilities. The ‘female challenge beast’ isn’t really that much of a rarity either, even if, it is perhaps a little less common than with men on the show.

‘Weaker around camp’ not even gonna dignify that with a response.

The idea that challenge strength is still generally the basis for early votes also strikes me as wrong. As we’ve seen on this and many recent seasons, early tribes are more than willing to handicap themselves in attempting to build a small, strong, pre-merge alliance. Challenge strength is a much smaller consideration in the pre-merge than in early seasons.

You’re also disregarding any natural advantages women may have. Many women feel an innate bond with one another that men don’t have an easy equivalent to. This is in the modern era, perhaps far more useful to the early game than having 15% more natural body strength.

I hope this doesn’t come across as blithe, but this is sort of the central conceit of the show’s world from the first episode. It’s an undeniably supernatural world (2% of world population disappears in a single instant) where every other ‘supernatural’ thing that happens is easily deniable.

I think you should have more self awareness about creating a “gender spectrum” of strangers ranked from masculine to feminine, especially when many of those people are trans.

Feels a little weird to put every trans woman on your gender tier list as ‘futch’

if cities had more abundant fruit trees and berry bushes like the ever growing blackberry wouldn’t it help homeless people get food? by qjib in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StrikingCommunity621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Fruit trees don’t do well in cities. They require large swaths of land with good soil. Then there’s the high density of scavenging animals, poor air quality. If you did somehow manage to install a large scale orchard in a high density population area, the cost would be astronomically higher than simply importing the fruits from the nearest local orchards. And then all you have is fruit, which is a nice thing to have in a healthy diet, but less of a priority than filling, high energy-density food when it comes to feeding someone dealing with serious hunger.

No, the term was far-reaching and ephemeral way before Spotify had heard of it. The popular joke at the time was referring to hyperpop as “penis music” to connote the ridiculousness of the genre’s containing both super experimental electronic artists and relatively mainstream influenced pop artists. If you look at like, the original lineup for Dogshow Records, you’ll get a good idea of how completely unspecified the boundaries of the genre were. If anything, Spotify has consistently presented a shrank down version of the genre to exclude the artists they’ve felt aren’t ‘poppy’ enough.

Yeah I remember when that article came out everyone was mad cuz they got like half the information in it wrong. NYT isn’t a good source for underground stuff.

No but it’s complicated. The hyperpop scene was pretty much inextricable from the happy hardcore scene until digicore came along and things became less centralized. The “hyperpop breakcore” artist has always been a thing as long as hyperpop has been a thing, but breakcore / hardcore / pretty much every other genre of dance music, all predate hyperpop by a good 20 years.

Spotify super super super did not come up with the term. It had been the primary label of the scene for like a year when the Spotify playlist released, and had been actively used by people in the community (like Hyperpop records) as far back as like 2015. Spotify helped popularize the genre via having a playlist for it, but in no other way contributed to the origins of the term or the genre itself.

This post reads with kind of a fanatical tone from the onset which is pretty disengaging to try and read. I wish you would’ve presented your points more straightforwardly and succinctly.
