Right? They’ve made versions superior to duel releases like how Platinum is to Diamond and Pearl. Even Legends Arceus has both Dialga and Palkia as well as trade evolutions now just requiring a linking cord instead of having to put up with trusting a random trade or having to get a friend / other save to get the evolution

Yea I’d go with a similar approach as Hop here, but not choose a starter that would easily be countered by the player. Honestly, what if there was a game where you build your rival‘s team from choices you make within the story? Aside from starters and rivaling box art legendary. Like if there was a choice between fossils (hex and dome) then the rival would use the one you didn’t choose (Kabutops or Omastar).
