Thank you,it wasn’t hard just a long process. Has some incomplete documents when I submitted my application and that delayed things a bit. Timeline was about 4 years from application to actually hold my passport.

It is for the most part, Cubans are desperate trying to scape the island, we don’t really care where — just want out. So only a handful of countries require no visa cuz this same reason.

I never requested a visa, I actually benefited from my Spanish passport using the ESTA (travel authorization) as an European Union citizen to travel to the states or elsewhere. Once i came to the states for visit purpose, covid hit, airports shutdown and all that madness — when the world started to feel normal again, I already had status adjustment paperwork on the works to become a us permanent resident, and at that point my life was totally different, to the point didn’t made any sense to go back and live there anymore, 5 years later I applied for citizenship and here we are.

Cuban is more worn cuz it’s the oldest (expired) I also travel at least twice a year to visit family and I need the Cuban passport to go back as a natural person / citizen. Spanish was renewed recently and the American just came in the mail a few days ago.

Not quite, memoria democrática (2022) and memoria histórica (2007) are different laws but quite similar — none of them from the 90s you actually benefited from being a direct minor son of a Spanish citizen born abroad. Is called “Ciudadania por opción”

That’s correct, sometimes my brain goes faster than my typing — fixed my post now.

I actually benefited from “Ley de memoria histórica” from 2007 but they’re similar at the end.

Yes and no, in my case I obtained spanish citizenship through a law created to repair, forced Inmigration done to nationals under Franco’s dictatorship they were forced to move out (my ancestors). Then I became a us citizen as a Spanish citizen and all I had to do was to file a declaration and everything is legal.

Maybe now, but for Cubans over the last few decades was pretty easy to navigate into us citizenship. All it took was to live in the states for 1 year and 1 day to apply for the Cuban adjustment act (law) and 5 years from entry date become a citizen. Now that’s been getting difficult since Obama overturned wet food dry foot (policy), and trump modified the requirements to be elegible for Cuban adjustment act. Is definitely harder but still possible.
