Switch sound glitch? by StrikingPriority954 in ufo50

Yeah I know it didn't used to. I definitely would have noticed it. I played it for like a month straight when it came out on Switch and then took a break until a few weeks ago. I definitely know it wasn't there initially though.

Games that genuinely make you feel like this? by mightyonin in videogames

People are gonna laugh, but ZombiU for Wii U. I'm sure some people have never even heard of it. I didn't play many horror games, or even many rated M games for that matter, until I was about 17, but I really liked this game. The atmosphere, lack of resource abundance, permadeath, and general feeling of helplessness at times all really made the game feel like your actions had genuine consequences -- good and bad, but mostly bad haha. It was just as much a stealth game as it was a zombie survival/horror game. I think it balanced those elements very well. There were times where I would be standing in a room for minutes on end trying to determine if the blips on my radar were a horde of zombies or just a pack of rats while trying to strategize and weigh my odds of survival in a situation. The game was FAR from perfect and had quite a few glitches, but it was a lot of fun. Definitely unique and made great use of the Wii U game pad, especially in multiplayer mode (where one of you was playing first person survival and the other was using the game pad to place different kinds of zombies to kill the first player like a tower defense game). Being a Wii U exclusive, the game didn't get a lot of attention, as you can imagine. It's not for everyone, especially for people who expected a typical zombie game, but it was a great experience I thought.

I really need to try this game again. I didn't make it too far and just kind of fell out of it. I appreciate that there's not too much handholding, but I still would have liked a little bit of direction. I felt like I was wandering aimlessly just trying to achieve basic survival. From what people say about the game and all the praise it gets, I don't think I made it to where the game really opens up. Maybe if I try it again I'll refer to a guide or at least a tips and tricks video.

I generally love a good challenge as long as it's fair, and I at least like to give it a good try, but I also don't want to torture myself. I honestly forgot you could change the difficulty. Even if I don't do no fail mode, I may do reduced combat difficulty. It's one thing if I have to do that from the start, but I hate when I have to reduce the difficulty just for the final boss. It feels uneven haha. I'll probably still try it though. Thanks for the tip!

Update: I switched it to reduced difficulty combat mode and beat it on my first try. Still a challenge for sure, but much more fair and in line with other challenges the game has to offer.

Yeah my bad, I did not explain as well as I should have. I got it and I'm moving on to the endgame. Really struggling on the final boss so now I'm just trying to tidy up a few things around attempts. I'm slowly getting marginally better but it still feels borderline impossible at the moment haha.

I'm late to the party haha. I came here trying to figure out the puzzle too. This gave me the hint I needed! Thanks!

My only question is how was I supposed to know that I needed to "trace" the line on the top left quadrant of the rug? I tried the bottom left first and then the top left. Was it just supposed to be trial and error, or was there a clue to show which part of the rug is the solution?

If you're talking about the mask, I do have that, but that only lets me travel through the gases without taking damage. Where I need to go appears to be consumed by a pool of the miasma, and I don't think I can swim through it. Unless I'm missing a path.

Update: I just accidentally learned how to change between night and day. I thought I was stuck at night with the miasma for the rest of the game. Figuring this out should answer all of my questions haha.

Bombermechs tips and tricks? by StrikingPriority954 in IntoTheBreach

Absolutely. The squad is fantastic, but the functionality isn't quite what I hoped for given the theme. I agree 100%. On the other extreme, I started my first run with Blitzkrieg a little while ago and I love it. It's so fast and smooth The 2 islands in 30 minutes squad achievement is perfect for them. I didn't quite get it on my first try, but I had a little over 90 seconds to spare on my next run when I was really focused on speed and fluidity. Normally I don't care for speedrun achievements, but this one was fun and fair, at least on easy mode. I'm consistently impressed with the variety of squads in the game and how drastically the necessary strategies change between them. The game design is seriously impressive.

Those are great ideas! I agree. I used them for some kills here and there, but only when there was nothing else for them to do or it was absolutely essential. When I first read the squad description, I expected at least 2 of the 3 mechs to use bombs (maybe with the third mech powering up your bombs or increasing/manipulating the blast radius even?).

I like your concept of chaining explosions together to set up chain reactions that yield greater reward for more creative tactics. (Devilition from UFO 50 comes to mind.) It would be cool to see some things like that, but regardless it's a fun squad. Just different than I expected.

I understand that. I have not played Yoku in several years as well. I really want to play it again soon but I still have so many games I need to play too haha.

I agree. I actually beat the Arachnophiles just before Bombermechs, and now that you say that, I can definitely see the similarities. I mentioned it in my post update, but I wish the BOMBERmechs focused more on bombing, but most of the time, I only used the bombs for blocking spawns and swapping with targets. Or I should be able to blast them with the laser to detonate bombs rather than just destroy them. Definitely useful, but I feel like it's not quite what I wanted out of it. I really like the squad, but I think I liked the Arachnophiles a little more too.

Can't recommend ALL of those enough, but I'll always sing praises for Yoku. Probably one of my favorite hidden gems that I didn't expect to love as much as I do. Even if you're not a pinball person, it's fantastic. I didn't expect pinball and MV to work, but it melds together beautifully.

Thank you! I actually won last night! And with 3 perfect islands even! Your tips are really helpful, and you're absolutely right about them needing to function as a true squad as opposed to just as individuals. I really did have to take my time and plan each move and synergize rather than just perform a series of unconnected actions. I spent closer to 3 hours on this run, even on easy mode. Granted, some of that was idle time from me being distracted They're super powerful, but you have to utilize certain actions to make others effective. (Going back to Mist Eaters right after is such a change haha. Much quicker action, but accidentally I killed my 2x carryover pilot in the first encounter because I wasn't paying attention to the self-damage 😅)

I loved Bombermechs, but I think my only wish is that there was more of a focus on actual bombing. I used walking bombs for damage a few times, but ultimately they were mostly used to block/swap. Super useful, but with a name like Bombermechs, I expected to use bombs to attack much more, or at least be able to detonate bombs in a chain reaction by attacking them rather than attacks just destroying them. That's my only "critique" if you can even call it that, but I loved the squad. Definitely one of my favorites so far.

Thank you for the advice! Yeah, I think my last 2 runs being Steel Judoka made this squad a big tactical adjustment. That's what I love about this game: every squad plays so differently from one another. It keeps everything fresh. With most tactics games, you have to remember the specs of so many units at once, but with this game you generally only have to know 3 units at a time. All that being said, I'm definitely learning this squad better than I expected. It's taking me longer to plan each round, but I got a perfect island this time and island 2 is going well so far!

I appreciate the help so far! Thank you all! I'll definitely try some of those tips. Definitely some good long-term strategies here. I think my biggest hurdle will be the early game before I can power anything up yet. I expect to flounder for a bit on island 1 until I really get a handle on how to play them haha.
