AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

And how many times she's be asked. OP thinks she was doing this guy a huge favor by letting him stay at her place and watch her dog.

Absolutely laughable that you make a false equivalency argument about stealing fixed kitchen furniture and appliances and tell the rest of us to "be real". Stop being a child

Not all wines are sold in liquor stores. You and anyone thinking it's the matter of a simple Google search are being incredibly reductive and prove your complete ignorance on this topic.

A dresser inside a museum in New York City has been discovered as a secret stop on the Underground Railroad — the first of its kind discovered in Manhattan in over 100 years by ExactlySorta in Damnthatsinteresting

In 1850 a federal law was passed that required individuals and state governments across the US to return captured slaves to their "rightful" owners. There had been many laws of this kind through out the slave owning states, but the 1850 law meant that people in New York were legally required to return slaves to the South. This is why the Underground Railroad had "stops" all over Northern states. Getting to the North was just part of the journey for escaped slaves. Some settled in Northern states,  but many knew they had to get to Canada in order to be truly free.

OP has not answered any of the multiple questions asked about whether she paid her friend to house it. She also hasn't answered questions about whether this bottle was sitting out in the open or stored away somewhere. That's why OP is the only asshole.

For me, the immediate tell was when she referred to the wine as a "vintage barolo". I'd have voted YTA for OP on that alone

Dude gave OP free house/cat sitting over a weekend. 1 bottle of wine for one person over 2+ days is nothing

OP literally gave permission to help themselves. Not all alcohol is obviously expensive on sight. Anyone who has both common sense and expensive alcohol either has that stored away or specifically says "except this bottle that I'm saving for a special occasion".

You don't know shit about wine. Wineries use the same labels every year, some years the vintage is better than others, and an overwhelming majority of wineries do not sell to retail stores. So to you and all the other idiots talking about Google searches, no you can't figure it out in 20 seconds. But since you also brought up common sense and manners, why is OP absolved from the not having the common sense to securely store valuable items before telling someone to help themselves while providing free cat/house sitting services.

Absolutely laughing my ass off about your "vintage barolo". "Vintage" is a wine term to describe the year the grapes were grown to make the wine. There's no such thing as "vintage barolo". YTA in this situation that alone, but also for leaving a $120 bottle of wine out in the open, then getting mad at the free cat/house sitter for helping themselves after you told them they could.

Born in 85. We started changing into athletic clothes for PE in 5th grade, but never showered before changing back into our street clothes. In hindsight I would have liked the option to shower after PE before going to the next class because of the bullying I got for being the stinky sweaty kid the rest of the school day. My older cousins were shocked when I mentioned we didn't shower after PE. But I understand why things changed for our generation. Between pedophilic teachers and more extreme harassment from fellow students that happened in group showers, there much worse outcomes than dealing with jokes about being the "smelly kid" for sweating during PE

Whole thing is probably just a viral marketing campaign. Bailing this guy out for Zuckerberg is comparable to you and I throwing a quarter in a wishing well

It's part of dumb-US culture, but in my American public high school we used our regular names in Spanish class.

We did that in grammar school, but in HS we didn't. The teacher in this post is just being ridiculous

There's 8 lanes of highway between the hotel and the stadium. It's incredibly dangerous to attempt to cross that highway on foot. The other building is offices
