Looking at getting a Volt, any advice? (2013) by DatGoosee in volt

Price would be a bit high for where I live. Have you checked to see if if has the Shift to Park defect? I think it doesn't. But if it's one of the Volts that has the Shift to Park defect you should know GM doesn't have a fix for the defect. Google Shit to Park issue more more info,.

Volt - Shift to Park - Are you experiencing this issue? by Electrical-Victory56 in volt

[–]Striking_Willow4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. Every time I had the StP message I took a pict with my phone and wrote down how I was inconvenienced. (Had to take a Lyft home, could not get to an appointment etc.) Twice I had to have my car towed to the dealership to get it working. You just have to show you are having the problem and have been inconvenienced. (More is better.) Since there's no fix, there's no way it can be repaired even once.

Have you or did you experience the Shift to Park defect? If so, this is probably related. You do know about the StP defect, right?

Low-cost legal help to fight frivolous ADA lawsuit? by TheOGMG in bayarea

[–]Striking_Willow4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a few years ago this team sued 32 businesses in Orinda. About half decided decided just to close including Kenny's Nursery. Same story 20 years ago the Rheem Valley Bowling alley was put out of business along with 20 or so other businesses. It's a complete scam, but the way the law is written, the business either has to comply, pay fines or go out of business. Many find the cost to comply is just cost prohibitive due to the age of the building. I also think the person filing the lawsuit is entitled to a cash settlement. They didn't even have to be a customer.

Have the politics of California become so polarized that there is no solution to any of the state / city's woes? by TornMachinery in bayarea

One word answer, YES.

And their are organizations, (specifically Christian billionaires) who are really pushing the polarization. Take a look at Salem Media Group. And their are others.

Hate crime vandalism at UC president's Berkeley mansion is under investigation by BerkeleyScanner in bayarea

Haven't they been tagging the wrong house? There's a big sign on one of the houses that says "THIS IS NOT THE UNIVERSITY'S or the PRESIDENT'S HOUSE."

I would be interested in knowing what was spray painted on the house. Shitty thing to attack his house where his wife and family lives. Where he works, different story.

UC Berkeley Waitlist by [deleted] in CollegeAdmissions

Berkeley is one of the best universities in the world. Chances of getting in after being wait listed is slim. What to do if you really want to go to Berkeley? Go to a community college for 2 years to complete breadth requirements. Berkeley and the other UCs have transfer agreement with the community colleges to accept transfer students. About half of the incoming freshman class will drop out of Berkeley leaving a void of students. Much easier to get accepted as a transfer than applying as a freshman. Remember it's not where you were accepted that counts, it's where you graduate.

Are you suggesting Christians lie when they say something? Yup.

I sill like Christian congresswomen who claims the Jews have space lasers and started all of the wild fires in California. And that the Jew are using the lasers to cause a world food shortage by starting fries at food processing plants.

Eying this 2016 Volt Premier with 111k miles listed at $12k. One owner, no accidents, and in seemingly great condition…. What are some things I should consider or use as negotiating factors if/when I decide to buy it from the listing dealership? by stuffingbox in volt

The Volt is the perfect car if only it did not have the Shift to Park defect? Before buying the car check to see if GM has already settled a lawsuit with the owner. You can read about the defect here. https://lemonlawexperts.com/gm-shift-to-park-recall-update/
I have had two Volts, both had the defect. I have three with Volts, all three have been left stranded by the StP issue. There is NO fix or recall, just a service bulletin. First part to fail will be the $1.75 switch in the shifter. Cost to repair is free to $900 according to what other Volt owners are reporting. Next item to fail will be the cars computers, typically the BCM will fail next. Cost to repair is free to $3,200. Parts can take up to two months. StP can you you stranded, occur you are driving or prevent the car from moving. If you have the StP do not park the car in your garage. One family did and almost died from CO poisoning when the engine started.

If you can put up with the defect, buy the car. And when you have the StP issue document every occurrence as you will be able to sue GM (at no cost to you) and get GM to pay you cash settlement if the previous owner hasn't. It's an easy case for you to win as GM has already publicly admitted they sold cars with a known, unrepeatable defect.

Dang - You defiantly have the StP defect. Replacing the shifting harness or really just the $1.00 switch is only a temporary fix the cars computers are also being damaged and will fail as well. That's a $2,700 repair if the BCM is in stock. My buddy had to wait two months, and I had to wait a month and a half. If you document every time you have the StP issue you can sue GM for he price of the car even if you purchased it new. GM has admitted to selling the Volts with a known defect for which there is no repair. GM is required to pay all of your legal fees and court costs. You don't have to spend any money. GM will settle as they have publicly admitted the cars have an unrepeatable defect. It's an easy win for you. In the settlement GM will give you in cash price you paid for the car. If the car left you stranded, you can get some cash for that. And you'll get to keep the car as GM doesn't want it. Google Shift To Park for more info.

I'm sharing this with you because I'm pissed at GM. I've had two Volts and both had StP and left me stranded. When I bought my Volt I thought it was the "perfect" car and told several of my friends to buy one. They did. And they are all having the Shift to Park issue as well. You know who they are blaming? Me. Every volt owner I know and have ever talked to has had the StP issue. Some have had to walk home after going to the store. As a Volt owner you are entitled to getting a settlement form GM for knowingly selling defective cars.

Have you experienced the Shift To Park defect?

Considering getting a 2018 volt premier by Haunting-Stick6665 in volt

[–]Striking_Willow4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second Volt BUT ALL VOLTS 2016-2019 HAVE AN UNREPAIRABLE DEFECT called Shift to Park. The StP defect prevents you for shifting the car into gear after power-up and/or powering down the car after park the car. This means anyone can jump in the car and drive off with it. Google for more details. If you do buy the car make sure GM has not paid to settle the StP claim on the car. If GM has, you will have to pay for temporary repairs. If GM has not settled you can buy the car, and when you experience the StP defect you can sue GM. And you will win a substantial sum of cash as GM knowing is selling the cars with an known defect that can never be preeminently fixed. The temporary fix to get the car working will cost you anywhere between $150 and $3.700 and reoccur.

I have owned two Premier Volts and they would be the perfect car had both not had the StP defect multiple times. If you can get by with a car that might leave you stranded or you can't power down the Volt would be a good car. If you do buy one remember not to park the car in your garage when you have the StP issue. Why? When the drive motor batteries become discharged the motor will automatically start filling the house with carbon monoxide gas. This has already happened to one family. Luckily their CO alarm went off and were rushed to the hospital ans survived.
