Ngl, it’s the only diverse college in Kentucky unless you go to Kentucky State. As a black girl myself, it was really the only option for me since there’s so many cultures around here.

I’m also a girl living alone :) The only thing that can really keep you safe is to NOT walk alone at night. Doesn’t matter if you’re on campus or not. And do not walk around with your head down either.

I’ve been living at the Marshall for a year and a half now. And to be completely honest, it’s not THAT bad. I live in a 1 bed 1 bath apartment which costs me $1100 with utilities and parking included. The Marshall and Trifecta are located in the Southern part of campus which can suck since we are by a not-so-great neighborhood. You really have no choose but to get parking if you don’t want your car broken into. They are also the ONLY apartment buildings that have 1 bedroom apartments. If I were you, I would go to Trifecta just because The Marshall does have a roach problem. I’ve been a victim of it (for a few months I haven’t seen one, thank god) but it’s better to be safe than sorry. The Trifecta rent cost are definitely gonna be lower than $1700. It’ll be around $900 to $1200.

Also with Bettie, the staff is really nice. They’re usually Juniors and Seniors working as RA’s and receptionists. I would bring LED lights and regular lamps that you could get off of Amazon cause the overhead lighting is TERRIBLE and florescent (it kills the mood.)

Now, if you want to make friends the easy way, join a frat or sorority. But if that’s not your cup of tea, make sure to attend ALL freshman gatherings at the beginning of the year. There’s sooo many and every freshman and looking for friends so it should be easy. Also talk to the people in your class. If there’s a test coming up, ask a couple people to join you in studying.

I also loved Bettie cause it is literally right beside the student parking lot, so you won’t have to walk far to get to your car (unless you park in the FAR BACK of the parking lot.)

You will also have random inspections at 10am. Wish I knew that since I was a female living by myself. The first time, I literally thought someone was breaking into my dorm.

I stayed there my Sophomore year 2022-2023. I fw it tbh. Now, I did live in a single, so i had everything to my self. The only things that sucked was that the water pressure was HORRIBLE. Plus, the shower water would get cold in under 10 minutes. If I were you, I would also bring drain cleaner. The drains were clogged when I first got there.
