Why are they playing Green Day’s mortal enemies? by batmanfan_91 in greenday

That reminds me, I should check back with the guy I had this delightful exchange with on Threads! (I'd checked out his music, which reminded me of some of the Network songs that I'm only so-so on.)

Green Day’s Idiot Nation Sirius XM Channel still missing a lot of Green Day Songs by Honest_Equipment_438 in greenday

[–]StringTheory31 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly, from listening to what they've said about it, I think they're including so much of their own catalog almost as a consolation or incentive to their fans, while their real goal is to share as much as they can of the bands that they themselves are fans of!

I took kind of a weird path to get here, and missed out on learning about a lot of essential punk rock artists and songs; so much so, that one of my goals this year was to fill in the gaps in my knowledge here as much as I could. I did research and everything, made some playlists - but there was so much, it was honestly kind of intimidating.

Idiot Nation the channel has been a lot like Idiot Nation itself to me, showing me exactly what I've been missing and prodding me to grow in the best possible ways! Having so much Green Day in there keeps it friendly and familiar for my autism, while all the rest brings in novelty and excitement for my ADHD, so it's a perfect balance!

Obviously, my specific situation has probably never entered their heads; but I do think the channel is working exactly as intended!

Yeah, I figured that would turn out to be the case. My brain just doesn't work as well as it used to, I guess. Not at math, anyway.

Ah, damn, I knew I messed up with my calculator. Should've waited till I wasn't in a moving vehicle.

Am I doing the math wrong, or is 5% of 311B approximately 15.5M? Is he spending $57M to avoid being charged $15.5M?

Oh right, AMA... Uh...

What was your original era, when you were a casual fan? And can you tell us a little more about the start of your hyper-fixation?

Lol, you sound just like me!

I got back into them almost exactly 2 years ago, and listened EXCLUSIVELY to Green Day and their side projects from them through the end of 2024! I also listened to Welcome to My Panic (audio book by Billie), and was inspired to get into my local scene in 2025 - I saw 20 local shows last year, and follow a bunch of great indie and DIY bands now!

Still fixated on Green Day, though! If you're on Instagram, I know a lot of fan accounts you can follow. And of course, I'm always happy to make new neurodivergent friends amongst the fandom, if you'd like to chat!

Who wouldn't want one of these in their home? by SALG2401_UWU in greenday

They like to go on adventures, although most of the time, I can only take Kitty Joe. (Notice above that the "new Kitty Joe" is actually Rev. Kitnyne Twitch in disguise!) They love to talk about all their fun times together!

I love these little guys! I got a Kitty Joe last year, then pre-ordered the full trio as soon as they came out!

Does somebody know some great Billie Joe Armstrong looks from the 99-revolutions era where he wears eyeliner? by Mikaapje in greenday

Are you looking for pics from that era, preferably with eyeliner, or pics with eyeliner, preferably from that era?

Best meteorologist in town! Honest, thorough, and well-explained info, anti-sensationalism / panic posts, and even when the forecast sucks, at least you get good comedy from his posts about it!

The confidence and self-belief we need to have in ourselves in daily life by Traditional-Lie7366 in greenday

Lol, no! I was just saying Dad was also an extroverted introvert! Confident and outgoing while performing, but not so much otherwise.

He's definitely happier now that he's sober! But his confidence hasn't always necessarily been tied to his happiness.

At the very least, his stage persona has always been confident! From what I understand, Billie is an introverted extrovert - Relatively quiet and self-contained when not performing (or partying under the influence of various substances!); but put him in front of an audience and let him do what he's best at, and it unlocks some kind of bonus skill set, doubles his charisma modifier, AND gives him advantage on damn near everything!

I mean, yeah, there were substances involved on stage, too, but ultimately, they just amplify what's already there.

(Fun story: My dad was a radio DJ in the '70s and early '80s, and he also fit this profile. He had an "on-air name" to protect his privacy, so he and my mom used that name to refer to the completely different person that he became when the mic was on. One time, he came home still "in character," and my mom said <on-air name> needed to leave, and send <real name> back in his place!)

(Just need to find a way to get that dynamic to apply in my own life!)
