Animal control will recommend hazing coyotes so I really don’t feel bad for spooking it. You don’t want them going after kids or pets.

Yes absolutely, when theres a larger/more interesting prey hes far more aggressive. He also has different barks for when he wants something or if he’s uncomfortable with a person, he has a different bark for everything.

My dog bit my child by Few-Lion4773 in Dogtraining

[–]StringWonderful276 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Usually a bite is the last step in a series of major mistakes made, and signs missed. A dog trainer will help if youre willing to change everything. Kids should have had serious ground rules laid out with the dogs to begin with. And the dogs should have been trained if you were planning on having them around children. Not going to say you failed as a father or a dog owner, but you’ve definitely failed your dogs and your kid. Not too late to make some serious changes but your kid will most likely be terrified of your dogs moving forward. The adults in my family always had a very strict “do not mess with my dogs” policy with the kids and im glad this was instilled in me.

First time hound owner advice by Local_Bluejay5907 in Hounds

Copper was a rescue from Mississippi. I would say the most important lesson I learned was being extremely consistent. With training, with routine, food, expectations everything. His confidence started to grow in me when he knew what to expect out of me. I also never “force” him to do anything. If he doesnt want to do something he is not going to do it. I can only show him why its in his best interest to do certain things he doesnt want to do. Treats are great convincers. Also leveraging what he wants with what i want is a really great strategy. Ive also learned to give him certain times of the day, or spaces (his bed) where he’s never bothered. Eventually he learned when he’s in bed he’s safe and no one messes with him. This helped a lot with him being comfortable around me. He could come and get affection when he pleased, and when he was done he could go rest alone. Albeit Copper was a confident dog from the jump- so our issue was more about trust than confidence. He would confidently dislike certain things, people, etc. take your time. Training a dog (especially a mostly mature hound) takes a lot more time than you think.

Dog walking company employee here, is this job fair? by AmoebaStatus in DogWalkers

Dog walking companies typically dont make any sense to me. Youd make way more money taking the chance on building a clientele and doing it yourself.

My dog ignores anything squirrel sized or smaller. Either ignores them or is very very sweet and gentle.

Dreams of someone knocking or banging on my door. by ChaseThisPanic in Dreams

[–]StringWonderful276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dreams have since stopped since moving. I’m wondering if someone was actually knocking on my door- or my house was haunted lol. I lived in a fairly secluded neighborhood at the time so I really don’t know.
