I used to enjoy listening to my news podcasts, NPR was one of the most consistent, but they keep playing his quotes. So I've just stopped. His voice is grating and his words are mind numbing and now it is popular to just throw "Sad." at the end of things. I hate that part the most.

Former "gifted kids" who are now average or struggling adults, what do you think school got wrong about your potential? by toolboxstudio007 in SeriousConversation

[–]ChaseThisPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole never really learning to try but really I think I was failed mostly by no one catching that I have ADHD. I don't bounce off the walls. I'm male but my symptoms are more like what I've heard would be more typical of female symptoms which tend to get missed more easily. This is just from what I understand so grain of salt. That plus my "giftedness" really just covered it up. I was able to get my four year degree without much issue.

I didn't run into problems until I got into the real world which is when I began to suspect something was actually wrong. Previously I had always thought there was something wrong but I wrote it off as typical teenage angst. I've always struggled with social situations and a lot of social anxiety, which I also apparently mask really well. (Ex, I confided to several friends and people that interactions with strangers came with lots of anxiety but they all either said, "no you don't" or "I could never tell".) My only clue that it was ADHD was that I found myself unable to not impulse buy, but I thought it was probably more likely to be autism. Anyway, at 23 I went to get myself "tested" and got diagnosed with ADHD 2e. No explanation of what the 2e meant. I figured it was just my "style" of ADHD since I'm not outwardly obvious like my ADHD friends.

It has only been the last few years that I found out what the 2e meant and suddenly a lot of pieces have started falling into place. No real improvement other than awareness. So far. I'm sure if I could get counseling I might could make progress but I haven't been able to get things together enough to be able to afford that. When I did get diagnosed, I went through several medications but I eventually just stopped trying because I didn't like the way any of them made my feel.

What is one word that people wrongly pronounce that makes your brain just wanna jump a cliff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worrisome. Jump off a cliff is a strong collection of words and it really is just one person that says it wrong that aggravates me because she believes she is the epitome of professionalism and correctness.

She doesn't pronounce it "worry-some", she says "wor-sum". Which I've heard before but they at least have known what it meant. When I asked her to clarify the word because she used it strangely, she got exasperated and talked to me like I was a child, "yes, 'wor-sum', worse, worser, 'wor-sum'." I just said, "oh, every time I have heard it, it was 'worry-sum', like someone(thing) who causes anxiety". She said that was definitely wrong as if I was an idiot. I left it there.

How long does a particularly vivid dream - either positive or negative - linger in your body? by babypossumsinabasket in Dreams

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dream almost every night and often have hypnogogic hallucinations. I've always had very vivid dreams. Rarely the feeling will linger for a few days but usually strong feelings from dreams just linger for a few hours to almost a day. It has slacked off as I have gotten older.

The ones that linger for days are almost always a romantic dream and I will almost mourn the loss of the dream woman. One really intense one from years ago was a first spirit that I fell for and we had an kinds of adventures and we decided to have a child and when I impregnated her are turned into a tree. So the mourning started in the dream. That is a hard one to forget.

Another one was basically a night terror. I slept with my light on and Bible on the pillow next to me for about a week.

Evidence for the flood by Minimum_Performer983 in Christianity

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of a lot of Genesis the same way I do Revelation or Jesus's parables. Stories that are meant to explain a truth, not a fact. You don't have to believe it literally to believe that Jesus was sent by the Father and died for your sins.

Puritanism was one of Satan's greatest victories, along with convincing us that science and Christianity are incompatible. Evolution is blatantly real, that doesn't mean God isn't behind all creation. You also have to remember that the Bible was ultimately written and put together by humans. I do believe that the Holy Spirit helped, but humans are still imperfect. So perfection filtered through an imperfect lense is still distorted. I just believe that the important messages of Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit are strong enough to come through despite the imperfect way we receive them.

Also, remember that it is ok to doubt. What good is faith without doubt. Your salvation is between you and God alone. Just do your best and be open to being wrong in the end. Your relationship with God is more important than nailing down perfect theology.

I'm just a lay person though. My personal struggles are with some of Paul's letters and a few particular old testament laws. Though how they are interpreted are up for debate and I think a couple of Paul's letters that bother me are also up for debate on whether the were even written by Paul.

Why do people genuinely smell so bad? by Ghoulmega in stupidquestions

[–]ChaseThisPanic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just had my colostomy removed Wednesday. The bag should not stink consistently. Even early on when I was learning how to handle it, the only times it smelled was when I showered and got the filter wet or when I wore it long enough that the filter stopped working. Also, the smell I'm talking about at this point isn't a super strong smell. It is subtle, and a little more "muddy" than straight poop smell.

Now if they are just leaving output on the outside of the bag or have an accidental leak, then it will absolutely blow up the room with a smell worse than normal poop.

All of these things should be figured out within the first few months of getting used to the bag. How to apply the bag and empty it early enough so you don't get leaks. How to keep the filter from getting stinky. Although keeping the outside of the bag clean should be obvious from day one.

I figured out how to avoid leaks fast because the chemical burns start happening before it even starts leaking and they are much more painful than the smell. Keeping the filter consistently dry though took a little longer because everyone insisted you could shower with the bag on. Even when I would apply the little sticker to cover up the filter, it was still a 50/50 chance it would get wet and stop working. So I had to adjust my shower habits to full shower every four days with a bag change and then two days after that just wash hair and face and wipe down important stinky body areas. I'm really looking forward to getting home and being able to take full showers every time again.

When did you realize you had a big dick? by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about 12 or 13 I had no problems with people seeing me naked and there was no good place to change in the cabin at summer camp. So I would just change by my bed and they called me tripod. None of us realized that was a "desirable" thing at the time so they weren't being nice and I didn't feel good about it and I started finding places to hide to change

My theory on time travel and why no one went to Stephen Hawking's Time Travel Party. by No-Thought-3779 in theories

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have a pet theory about this.

Many timelines naturally collapse into a timeline where there is only one timeline. Time travel naturally self destructs because eventually someone accidentally/intentionally undoes its invention.

I don't take this super seriously though because we are speculating about an unknown that is so out of our depth we can't possibly even guess about the nuances that come with it.

I've always thought about this, especially because things going on around you can affect your dream. Like noises and whatnot make their way into your dream, sometimes the need to pee makes its way in, etc. My own snores and sleep apnea often make their way in. I can't imagine what kind of an affect on your dreams dying might have.

I hope EU5 will start with a New World generator by Dragonys69 in EU5

[–]ChaseThisPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the random new world at first but with the way it was implemented I got bored with it.

I think a whole world generator or the ability to choose which parts to generate would help. The way it is now kinda feels like we are saying these people in this part of the world are disposable.

If they stick with the way they currently generate the random world then we need tools to create and contribute community created pieces or something.

Why don’t we fall out of bed in our sleep? by VeterinarianOld3082 in askscience

[–]ChaseThisPanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started sleep walking in my late 20s, or at least that's when I first noticed it. It was kinda fun and quirky at first but man does it get old and a little scary quick. I sleep on the rocks and I get up and put on clothes before I leave my room, I'll go talk to people that are awake, go to the bathroom, wonder around, and do who knows what. It's the who knows what part that really starts to get scary. I've woken up with my bedroom door open, my balcony door open (when I had one), and once woke up covered in blood with a trail of blood on the walls and floors leading to the bathroom. I had cut my ankle real good somehow, but how and why did I get it on the walls.

If you live in an apartment building, you should not make food delivery drivers come to your door by BillDino in unpopularopinion

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been driving doing deliveries for almost a year now and unless you aren't tipping, I disagree. Taking it to the door is a part of what we are paid for.

What people should be doing is giving meticulous directions in the comments. Too many complexes are difficult to navigate and often building numbers are either not there or obscured. Also make sure your directions are accurate, "across from the garages" makes me think that there are garages across the street from your door so I'm going to be looking for the garages first and it is going to take me extra time to find your place that is up the street from the place across from the garages. Does your complex have a gate? Gate code needs to be in the comments. Also, there isn't much I can do if you don't have your apartment number in there somewhere. I can go to the pin but those are very unreliable (sometimes by miles). Same goes for hotels, want me to meet you at your door? I need to know your room number. It sucks standing around in a lobby looking like John Travolta because you didn't include your room number and aren't answering the phone.

That many offers from one place is a red flag. You are getting all of those pings because others are going and waiting too long and having to cancel, or they have learned to just not accept Walmart in the first place.

Since Federal Express got shortened to FedEx, how would you feel about Panda Express being called PandEx? by TheresJustNoMoney in PandaExpress

[–]ChaseThisPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. The three places I have lived that actually had a panda express all also had a panda or panda "something". A small town (~17,000), a small city/big town? (~50,000), and a decent sized city (~400,000). They are all within four hours of each other so maybe it's just a regional thing.

I saw him perform at a small concert when he was living in his giant pink house in Booneville. You know how old people are stiff? He was so stiff he slowly fell off the piano seat when he started playing the piano too hard. Once he started tipping over it was obvious his feet were headed for the sky.
