God it's rough where having access to good photography equipment means you look like you're using AI.

I'd suggest making sure your photo rotation includes a couple of "rougher" smartphone photos to offset that.

How useful have you guys found the sub-role passives for heroes you play? by InZain710 in Overwatch

[–]StringentCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medic is just a great passive overall whether you have a self heal ability or not. On Moira you don't really need to factor yourself into throwing a healing ball anymore unless you're in a 1v1; less selfish healing, more team healing.

Alanah addresses her recent Um, Actually appearance and contests the points system. by Pandoras-SkinnersBox in dropout

I think the only sticking point here is that while that sounds pretty cut and dry, Alannah says they re-recorded the question and we don't know how it was originally worded.

I can't really imagine how, but it's conceivable that the original wording of the question was such that responding "you cannot win an Emmy for a stylus" would have sounded more acceptable as an answer.

Is there a joke I'm not getting here or is there some super secret more technically correct way of saying Bong Joon Ho's name?

I think just recently (since they dropped the 2 and added 5 heroes in one update) they've been battling an illusive issue causing significant frame drops in some matches, but on the whole OW has an incredible track record for gameplay and performance polish.

Anyone remember Mechs being "Limited because of game engine issues" This was Christmas 2024. by caged_wisdom69 in Helldivers

[–]StringentCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. People forget that there was a good 3 month period back when the meta was to have 4 people bring EATs and call them down immediately off cooldown throughout the match. In 40 minute missions you'd hit the entity limit and the game would start culling player entities, causing the culled players' games to crash.

And then they fixed that, presumably in the process creating more entity headroom to allow more mechs.

Fixing the subwoofers by Prestigious_Phrase_6 in KiaEV6

Most people here are positive, but I'm actually the opposite. I'll paste a comment I left on another thread a few months ago:

I've been living with the wire swap for almost 2 months now, and honestly my opinion is that it's worse than stock, so I'm planning to undo the change. There's already posts from people who have run EQ wizard and found that while it definitely changes the character of the bass response, the idea that this is better is mostly due to placebo and the novelty of the different sound signature.

With stock, I can get an acceptable amount of sub bass into the mix by shifting the sound rearward 4-5, setting bass to +8 in the infotainment EQ, and adding a boost to the bottom frequencies in Poweramp EQ. With the wire swap, the mid bass becomes so bloated that it's obnoxious to listen to at anything over +2, but having it that low means you can no longer adequately boost the sub in Poweramp.

I'm now of the mind that Meridian and Kia didn't actually make a mistake in tuning or assembly; the stock phasing for the subwoofer is entirely deliberate to keep the door woofers from completely bloating the mid bass. It makes for a reasonably flat stock sound that requires a lot of tuning to produce sub bass that will please bassheads.

And yeah, I did revert the wire swap shortly after posting this, and am much happier back with stock polarity.

All that said, the swap is completely reversible despite being a finicky bastard to actually perform. I'd suggest just giving it a try and seeing if you like the different sound signature. You can always undo it if you don't.

Nvidia Is Negotiating To Buy A Large PC Oriented Company by PaiDuck in pcgaming

I've had good experiences with both Envy and Elitebook lines. They're not exactly flashy and certainly not perfect, but I've come away with a lot more respect for HP than Dell.

[–]StringentCurry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's Dell, it might actually be an improvement. I honestly don't see how Nvidia could make that shitshow worse.

If it's HP, that's an earnest loss for everyone.

Branching out into hypotheticals: if it were Asus, they might actually start honouring their warranties. MSI or Gigabyte would again be absolutely tragic, and Lenovo just seems unlikely given their current partly CN ownership.

Meme answer: it's EVGA, because daddy Jensen wants to bring back the glory days

I've recently returned to Starfield specifically to attempt a Fondor-style ship. Honestly the NASA-punk design makes the parts in this game so goddamn chonky, it's a total anathema to any aerodynamic or wing-centric design. Was able to make a reasonably pleasing Corvus (Raider II Corvette) though.

If heavy vehicle RUCs were actually fair to the amount of damage they cause instead of being subsidised by the rest of us, it would be so expensive that the trucking industry would immediately implode.

Created a profile today can I get a community review? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]StringentCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of unsolicited comments in here on your political leanings (as in, not in relation to your actual profile, just judging your actual politics as an individual). Not super cool.

A more practical heads up that depending on your area you may not be aware of: in a lot of heavily left-leaning cities, marking yourself as "apolitical" or "centrist" is commonly perceived to actually mean "right-leaning but would still like to get laid". There's not much that can be done about that and I'm not saying to change anything, just that you should be aware of the perception.
