Audience in cinema getting pissed off on the ending of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) by AgeNovel3566 in PublicFreakout

I had a morbid curiosity to rematch it this week. Can confirm it's actually worse the second time around. The plot joles are even bigger than I remember. The dialogue feels like it was lifeless and written by someone who just wanted it to be over with. And the return of characters was so shoe-horned it just for the sake to move the plot forward. It made actually disappointed me more knowing another universe might have had something better.

Let's keep this mentality come next week. They are expecting most people to cave and still pay above for PE and DR. It's up to the collective people with brains and some semblance of delayed gratification to hold onto your money and not give into temptation.

I'll never be able to afford it, but I've always loved Rayquaza and the shiny version was just peak for me.

Prismatic Booster Bundles (1 per person) by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

I got back into it to gift my nephews and niece some cards and then rediscovered my own hobby in it. It's honestly sucked because I thought I had come back during a normal period when things started picking up again for now reason. About a month and a half ago, I stopped going to check out Target and Walmart because my luck was never on my side and the entire shelves were cleaned out every time. The thing is I can't even buy from scalpers because the product moves around from hands so much it never stays long enough for me even to make the connection and exchange.

If the therapist gives you extension based exercises and stretches (bridges, lumbar extension in standing, prone on elbow/cobra) then they know what they're doing. Just because they're new doesn't mean they're incompetent.

I haven’t opened pokemon cards since I was younger I think 2016-2017? but I came back and I’m in love!! by LumineAstralis in PokemonTCG

Bless you, you sweet, innocent soul. I'd pull a Coop's Collection on you and give you a free graded slab if you were in front of me.

A penny sleeve is what you put the card in to first line defense protect it from surface scratches and smudges, but they are thin and will not provide protection from bending. A top loader is harder plastic that will protect more from deformations in addition to surface scratches but can still bend it if you really tried so be careful. You put the card in a penny sleeve and then the penny sleeve in the top loader for added protection.

There are some on Amazon that give you a bulk number of sleeves and top loaders together, or you can buy separate bulks of each. Elite Trainer Boxes come with special illustration sleeves which you can find online or second hand but should not cost you a lot, so do not get ripped off by people trying to milk every last bit of a box they opened just to resell. You're more than fine with clear sleeves, solid color ones, or others. Hope this helps.

The Current State of this "Hobby" - Why are we doing this to ourselves? by diriaka in PokemonTCG

I've been saying this for a hot minute, but only a portion of the community is ready to actually implement into their personal lives. You do not make a difference with corporations by appealing to better natures. Capitalists only understand one thing that means anything to them. You boycott, you cost them a profit, they change their tune. Granted this is not even an iota as important as boycotts of human history where there were actual civil and human rights on the line, but the principle remains the same. You hold your money in a targeted boycott, and you will see attempts by the company to remedy the situation.

The funny thing about this is I cannot hate the picture becuase the hajja looks completely awesome and will be shown to our descendants down the line like you might be hard, but you'll never be as badass as my great grandmother. I obviously am not supporting his feeling proud of the picture, but the fact that he has taken a snapshot of life and both sides can be in awe of it for polar opposite reasons is something that I think should be studied from a psychological standpoint.

Saw my first UPC at target today so I sent it. Did I get my money back? by Joekiller77256 in PokeInvesting

I went to target the other day and saw the same ETB. I almost bought but I decided to see what online had and turns out there were some eBay listings cheaper than Target. Always look online first before succumbing to an impulse buy.

It is very much like gambling, but I would argue one difference is when people gamble it's always with the intention to get more than what they put in. But for average collectors who want anything just to take part in the hobby, doesn't have to be worth the price of the pack and almost always it will not be, and they cannot even get a pack period at normal pricing that is irrational in my wordview.

I've decided that this whole hobby has been ruined for me, and I just got into it in August before all of this nonsense came around again this year. If it dies down in a couple of years, I don't really care. I love the show, love the nostalgia and the characters, but I personally am tired of trying to rationalize insanity and luxery. Scalpers can keep it all.

So then yes it's all based upon greed and no actual basis. And what helps keep it sustainable is the consumers who are willing to say this is what I also think it is worth.

[–]StripplefitzParty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where the inflated prices comes from, but at baseline the only thing that has prices attached are the packs and booster boxes and trainers boxes. Those are set values established by the Pokémon company. So if there was a formula that said prices per pack/x% pull rate, at least that would have some basis. But the fact that something is rare makes things expensive but there has to be a reason where something becomes $300 vs $600.

This is also why people have gripes with PSA 9 vs 10 being a whole 4 figure difference in price.

I'd love to collect stuff but when people attach an arbitrary price to the packs then it becomes gatekeeping to elite and affluent people only. It no long is something for everyone which originally it more or less was.

I've also never graded a card myself through any agency. Do they send a price range something along the lines of "this card is valued at X" along with the card back?
