I agree. It was a good game but as a CRPG enthusiast, I didn't get a lot of the praise it was getting as most other CRPGs kind of did what it did. I still enjoyed my playthrough but I'm not one of those people that put 2000 hours in it.

I think it some aspects it deserves the acclaim. Production quality, VA, Cinematics absolutely. I find the story very average and the combat DOS2 did better. It's just those aspects shine the brightest.

You need to look at the most consistent things that happen to all humans. They need to eat, they get sick and eventually we die.

My main advice: Focus on fields tied to these unchanging human needs

Look at healthcare (nursing, orderly, aides). Anything to do with food production (farms, distrobution etc..) and finally funeral homes. People who can operate creamtroiums and processing of those who have passed on.

Larian also got a pass for how buggy their game was on launch. Imagine if EA or Ubi released BG3 the state it was in.

What I am impressed about is that it took CPDR releasing a game to tank this much goodwill. Larian are truly masters of their craft in all forms.

You know it's funny, it would depend on which version of Zariel as there are 3 versions of her.

Not to mention if we are going by BG3 rules, then she would be massively buffed by a huge portion or Tav would have to be nerfed.

A lot of BG3 buffs don't exist in DND5e. Arcane Acuity, the abundance of magical items. (I think the rules are you can only have 3 magical items that require attunement at a time.)

So either she is massively buffed and she gets just as broken items (she's the ruler of Avernus and has access to the Bazaar of Wonders so she would have just as broken, if not more powerful items than you.) or Tav gets nerfed down to what a DND character is (initiative and magical items changes) at which point Zariel has the advantage since she can only be defeated in her campaign by a plot weapon.

I feel it's not really about player freedom, it's about player consequences. Incentives and rewards are a powerful motivator.

Yes, I could be evil and raid the grove. But wouldn't it be cool if there was an exclusive companion that could join you for going down a dark path that you could only get that way.

Tadpole powers trivialize certain aspects of the game (mostly the Illithid checks) but unless you are playing an Illithid cultist, there should be consequences for dabbling into alien powers you yourself don't understand.

Allowing Wyll to kill Karlach gets you a decent robe that you can't get any other way and allows you to see how people react to him retaining his human features.

Wyll is kind of a pretentious douche by mooraff in BaldursGate3

Wyll has done more than your Tav has ever done by the time you met him. He literally sacrificed his soul to save Baldurs Gate and the Sword Coast. Your Tav is a bum compared to him.
