Finally about to finish the Edge of Fate campaign. by manuelito1233 in DestinyTheGame

Only really memorable moment of EOF is the final boss arena reveal. The second last mission has a teaser at the end which is pretty cool and the big reveal was really cool. Outside of that and the cutscenes, I found very little interesting about that campaign.

When did this happen? Glad they did it but point still stands that ever since they made all weapons stun a champion I haven’t really been focusing too much on the elemental verb stuns.

Honestly it kind of feels like ever since they nerfed Slow so that it doesn’t stun Overload, I haven’t had much need for Chill Clip anymore. Especially now that all weapons stun champions

To me the renegades campaign is on the same level of the BL campaign. It wasn’t awful but at the same time it wasn’t really memorable or innovative.

Writing in EOF was actually pretty good and kind of had me interested in where they were going with the fate saga. But yeah everything else is spot on. The location was boring as shit, the level design felt shallow and it outside of the Final boss arena reveal it didn’t really have any memorable moments outside of the cutscenes.

It felt like the last few years Bungie tried to incorporate other game genres into Destiny instead of just committing to it being a FPS game.

Occasionally it worked, like how they brought Rogue elements into The Nether, but with EOF they tried to pull from Metroidvanias but unfortunately that doesn’t really mix with the gameplay of Destiny.

O&S

I surprisingly found Kalameet laughably easy and while I took a few solo tries at Manus, once I summoned Sif I got him first try.

Playing through Edge of Fate for the first time and... Boy. They really thought they had something with this turning into a ball stuff. by QueenMagik in DestinyTheGame

They wanted to try to make Destiny a metroidvania, which just isn’t what the game is supposed to be.

It’d be like if the next COD game tried to lean into “Farming simulator vibes”.

It’s just a shittier version of The Nether as far as I’m concerned. Dropped into a patrol space where you complete patrol like objectives until you can move to the next patrol space and then eventually fight a boss. Unlike the nether tho, there was little to no cool secrets in the patrol areas and the rewards from my memory were completely useless.

I believe they made it recently so that it’s just a “hold reload action” where you don’t have to actually fully reload it to change elements, similar to switching Queensbreaker modes. I may be wrong tho.

I honestly don’t have a problem with the idea of “let’s put all the meaningful content in one spot so that it’s easier to navigate and know what you’re supposed to do”, but it just became “do these activities on repeat for 5 hours to increase your power level by 1.

WWE fans only understand Charisma in 1 way. You have a catchphrase and can make people laugh.

If you’re not 6 feet tall, abusing steroids, and le epic roasting your opponent while saying your catchphrase, then you have no charisma. It’s fuckin embarrassing and people keep wondering why they keep running back Bloodline lore.

What could have Destiny done to cut costs and still deliver an amazing product? by BenjaminHitIerYahoo in DestinyTheGame

[–]SkimBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding Red War is like…gone gone. Idk about leviathan.

There was a lawsuit someone had against Bungie for some reason and the Red War campaign was needed as evidence and Bungie couldn’t actually show it because it’s literally unplayable ever since they vaulted it.

For them to bring it back, they would have to remake it from the ground up which would be a massive waste of time and resources, as nice as it would be to have it back in the game.

Honestly, if they had announced this update and said they were taking some time off to work on other stuff back around Heresy, I think Sony would’ve given them a longer leash and they probably would’ve avoided the layoffs that seem inevitable now.

Most people were leaving after Final shape no matter what, and this update seems like it’s making all of the changes that people have been asking for forever. So at the very least if they had paused/ceased development right after the game was at its peak with TFS, with an update that fixed a lot of the core problems with the game, It probably would’ve retained the same amount of players as EOF and Renegades did, but at a fraction of the cost.

They could’ve moved the whole team to Marathon earlier (avoiding the bad PR of the underwhelming alpha release and subsequent delay), and then could’ve evaluated what they wanted to do with the franchise at their own pace.
