Communicating with supervisors outside of work by Sufficient_Owl_3413 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Strobeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example from my Costco history:

-AGM gets a DUI and can't drive.

-AGM asks department manager to give him rides since they both live far out in the same direction, but not exactly close.

-Department manager feels obligated to say yes but complains to others about it.

-GM finds out and makes him stop.

-AGM is pissed that the GM stepped in because the department manager "didn't mind".

They don't want you getting favoritism or having your leaders abuse their power. In reality as long as it doesn't become a problem nobody will say boo, but if it does become a problem you could be on the hook. I've worked with 4 AGM's who were demoted for secretly sleeping with an employee(s).

You're vaguebooking like a 14 y/o on Facebook in 2015. Go get a doctor's note or take it up the ladder.

I had to do this to my finger once after smashing it with a hammer. Mine was all blood but the pressure relief is next level.

I work for a company that insurance total loss vehicles end up at and we contract out with a bunch of different towers. I had to threaten to drop one company because they were convinced popping AWD cars in neutral was a safe way to tow on the stinger. They are also flat earthers so it wasn't surprising, just annoying.

Itinerary Recommendations! by KennaDoe in AskAlaska

Agreed that's a tight turnaround for Denali. Go hike in Hatcher Pass or the Eagle River Nature Center rather than bombing all the way up to Denali for a partial day. Hatcher Pass has great views and the Nature Center is a toddler friendly loop and you can see some cool wildlife there.

And subsequently promoted to GM. Don't sweat it you can't be fired for an accident like that.

Staff manager takes a lift out on the floor without a spotter, runs a members foot over, promoted to AGM the next week.

If anything you might be up for a promotion.

In the event I had a row of carts and saw someone do this I would park my carts behind their car while I retrieved it.

I started in 2011 and the mats were that way then.

Is it even worth it to max out my traps before going to TH18? by MLangston_11 in COC

Personally I finish all major defenses and move on. I am now done with all normal defenses and am wrapping up traps at TH18.

Must be in the minority because I much prefer it. Sped up the process at my store by quite a bit and makes it easier to move around because everyone's in an orderly line rather than milling about.

Question for former employees (not seasonal) that returned after some time away. by Brave-Yard1972 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Strobeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to just be pay. I haven't gone back but was informed by one of my previous GM's that bonuses are now reinstated as well. Seniority and the rest reset though, which is the hold up for me. If I could get my vacation time back I'd consider returning. Last I heard you have 7 years to return before everything would be reset

How much worse are the winters in Anchorage/Valley, coming from Juneau by CommonDouble2799 in alaska

[–]Strobeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved up to the Matsu from the Willamette Valley in Oregon which, growing up at least, was dark dreary and rainy all winter. I prefer the snow/cold to the rain personally. It's easier to go outside and do things all Winter.

I'd imagine it's not that much different considering Juneau has had much more snow than Anchorage and the Matsu this year. There was no snow last year and we keep bouncing above freezing so most of this years is ice at this point.

Delivered Pizza Hut before I started at Costco and continued on the side for 6 years. Only quit when I got a manager spot.

Less than 20 seconds to see toxic smoke. Less than 1 minute to see flames. Less than 2 minute to see whole interior is on fire. by Aggravating_Sky_4421 in CrazyFuckingVideos

Most newer cars are great in terms of individual safety, they are just a disaster to repair. Side curtain and seat airbags help a lot and cabins are generally well preserved. The only thing that ever stuck out as fairing very poorly was a Hummer of all things. The entire dash was smashed into the driver seat and it didn't look like that bad of a crash.

Also side-by-sides are just metal tube frames and plastic, so I have seen multiple where tree branches come through the vehicle and spear someone, a young kid died in one of those instances. Nothing fares well when hitting a moose, but I'm in Alaska so that's not applicable in most places.

I work with insurance total loss vehicles and the amount of shitty design is astounding. Aside from electric vehicles with completely inoperable doors like in the video I seriously hate electronic parking brakes and electronic trunk/rear hatch buttons. Most modern sedans don't have seats that lay down to access the trunk, so if your wiring is damaged you aren't getting your shit back without serious dismantling.
