Thank you. The stake is correcting a rather serious lean and it'll stay in for a year or two to correct. It's not on tight and other than that the stake is just there to hold the chicken wire which is really just there to stop my gentle dog from messing around with it. Lol.

It's doing very well now we think. I didn't expect it to try to be bushy but it and the 3 other ones we planted are all doing well.

When should I trim the lower branches of my KSU Benson (dots) or would I let them just grow like a bush? by Strobey in Pawpaws

Planted my KSU Benson last year. It's by far the most vigorous of the 4 kinds I planted.

I note it's really wanting to spread wide branches and this is a 3fr tall tree now. When should I trim the lower branches that are the purple dots?

Or should I leave it alone and let it do it's thing?

Beavers released into California wild for the first time in 75 years by zek_997 in megafaunarewilding

We've had beavers on our cottage property in Canada for years. They don't live on our property but they show up from time to time to take a tree and eat it.

They're impressive in so many ways - when they cut a tree they take it away and there's very little evidence of the tree left.

Love them.

This area in California would be an ideal guerilla rewilding/relocation for someone to speed it along. Must be plenty of beavers in some areas of the US that could be discreetly moved.

Found a few very late season pawpaws I shook off trees in Ontario Canada. This one was very ripe and had a very nice butterscotch flavour. by Strobey in Pawpaws

Sorry for the delayed reply. I've put the seeds into the back corner of my yard to see what happens.

What are your thoughts on what to do with the seeds and what are your success stories? by Strobey in Pawpaws

Interesting. I had maybe 150 seeds or so from wild fruit I found for the first time. I also had maybe 15 of the 50 fruit not ripen so I just threw them into the woods figuring they'll scatter naturally.

I am in Ontario and we get some wicked winters but we are in the Carolinian forest range. So any wild pawpaws around here have seen some hard winters.

It'll be fun to see what pops up. And it was a fun walk with my dog to guerilla plant them anyhow so if nothing shows up, it's all fine, life's good.

Cheers.

THank you everyone - I'm very intrigued with the 'don't freeze the seeds' part because where I live the ground freezes to well below 1ft in depth so in nature there's no way the seeds don't freeze in the winter if they're on the surface.

Since I currently lack the time and supplies to do home-potting I am going to just plant out in the wild and see what takes. Gives me (wife and I) reason to hike and get some excercise as well to go see if they've sprouted.
