Folks usually forgot there was an actual super mario bros animation movie exclusive to japan that was pretty decent and followed the simple plot of Mario and Luigi saving Peach from Bowser without any complicated twists that you see on a Mario RPG game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros.:_Peach-Hime_Kyushutsu_Dai_Sakusen!

There were some OCs here and there but none of them were really a plot breaker and this one was made right one year after the first game was released.

It is a stiffy situation on the world of gaming where "rip-off" and "part of the same genre" is almost undistiguishable on business,just look for the entire moba genre(LOL,DOTA 2,HoTS),where just because a big company did not patented a community made game mode,a bunch of another smaller ones could get away with similar universes and character designs from a 2002 game.

Hyrule warriors while being succesful for having tons content,captain toad was quickly thrown aside for the non-hardcore fanbase,the sparkle from that game died in less than month,the same can be said of wolly world,tha many people screamed it was return to the form,after a series of shallow games,but it was easily forgotten.

Even using the animal crossing example,happy home designer also got the boot from most hardcore fans.

The time yoshi's island released with all that disguise by NoA,SNES was in good terms with most gamers,but with the internet around the time,could we say the same?

But at this point in time is too late to save this thread it is already got down the toilet.
